Randomstring.5607
So I am out questing, completing maps, doing events that pop up in my way. This has lead to me collecting a bunch of tokens materials and items. Is there a guide somewhere that tells a new player what to keep, destroy, sell? Is there something I should be working towards equipment wise or is the celestial gear good enough?

You can upgrade your armors later when you need specific attributes for your class specializations. You can check out what is needed from sites such as MetaBattle. As for loots: Visit a vendor and click on the Sell Junk button. Deposit all mats - sell on Trading Post if you really need the gold but you'll need them to craft. Open and salvage or sell all Unidentified items - you might want to bind some for skins. Better to salvage the cheaper gears as the mats will usually fetch higher prices. I usually set a threshold TP price for Exotics and Rare gears on whether to salvage or sell. Deposit all salvaged mats. Most Trophy items (it will say Trophy in the item descriptions) can be sold to vendors but try salvaging them first if they're salvageable and the mats will usually be more valuable - there are certain Trophies that you will need for certain achievements/crafting but those that drop in the Openworld can all be safely salvaged/sold. Trophies that are essential are only obtained through specific events/quests when you reach those stages. Any items you're unsure of, check Wiki first. You can type /wiki [keyword] or just type /wiki (shift + left-click item). There are sites such as Peu Research Center that are good for optimizing loots but for most lower value items, just follow the above steps.
