Positive Post: We Love WvW

I just want to offer some love to the developers.

There are a lot of angry and passionate posts… but it’s because these players love WvW.

That’s a good thing.

WvW is imperfect. But awesome. It has potential to be spectacular.

I’m pretty miserable with most of the changes. But I’m still here, running daily with my guild!

Wishing all the WvW developers the very best!!

Good hunting to you! In this day and age, its easy to be outraged, hard to be inspired. Be inspired! Be more!

Bleh, we had a good system which incentivised transfers to bottom, had stacked servers marked full and allowed us to build server communities. It wasn't scrapshoot if you log in at 2 pm or primetime if there is a commander. Only issue was there were too many tiers.

Then first they added this linking weirdness where everything is open except outnumbered solo servers and any progress as a server will be minimized by half randomness of relinkings. AND NOW they're double downing on stranger gaming and going with complete randomness with alliances. Good luck finding an active timezone that isn't just clouding in SM without commander.

Ofc we get it, Anet employees can't get personally involved with server communities and have normal working hours so they only took into account Primetime in their vision of alliances. So they overlooked any other timezone or community interaction. It doesn't mean that they don't exist. They're sacrificing rest of the 24 hours and any server long-term goals to sidegrading 3 hours. Alliances are a massive mistake, and definitely not only one they made in past 7 years.

It certainly is okay as a game mode. If there is still time after playing the better game modes (PvE and PvP). And I have to admit back then in 2012/13 with "server identity" existing and no linking and stuff ... I think I even liked it more than PvP. Or at least at the start when it took me time to even get into PvP. Remember playing it a lot for hours on evenings.

Nowadays I play wooden tier on reset for the +1 following week. Then I am done. Removing worlds/servers completely sure will mean even less incentive to play for me. As the participation system (can't even leisurely scout and defend and "wait" for enemies - you are constantly hurried to get another kill or cap something) did. (Chanting that one could mean gettigng more people interested in the game mode.)

Other than that: Even with adding the warclaw and stuff ... base game mode pretty much stayed the same. No real additions. Mabe the desert map - it is annoying. Sad that the Obsidian Sanctum is dead now. (Well it also kills your participation timer. Annoying.)

They sure did more stuff to make it less interesting - instead of improving it. In PvP it at least is still the same with the annoying stuff gotten moved somewhere where nobody cares. (Stronghold map ot the unranked.) And only one good thing (Spirit Watch) taken away into unranked.

Would need a huge overhaul imo - not only doing small stuff or nowthing ... while baiting people with the alliances thing that will only change matchups and not how the mode is played. (=same old game mode with all the weaknesses and not really any more strenght left)

Yes it had potential ... but they ruined it. In PvP you can go there for the rewards. Stay for the fun. In WvW ... you go there for the rewards. And sometimes to there again for the rewards. If you are lucky there are matchups/situations where it is fun ... sometimes. (A lot more rare than in PvP where - despite the bad matchmaker everyone complains about - still fun matches happen at least in mid skill tier.)
