kathy.8291
As much as I love Guild Wars 2 and have been playing since beta,,,,, ANET I AM BEGGING YOU.. Please think of some new festivals for the game. I mean, Halloween, Wintersday, Dragon Bash, etc are all fun for the new players, but for the old players it is dying out. You need to bring something new to the game to keep the excitement going for the holidays. Please bring new festivals to game 5
Fueki.4753
Six annual festivals is enough for a game. You can simply choose not to play them, if they bore you. Edited December 7, 2022 by Fueki.4753 7 4
Farohna.6247
Add more to the current festivals, sure. New ones, no. There are already enough. 8 3
Danikat.8537
I've also been playing since the betas and I wouldn't want new festivals because we've already got 6, which is one every other month. Adding more would be too much and replacing one would mean losing something we've already got, which isn't a good deal for anyone. I think the only way to do it would be something like Elder Scrolls Online where only certain festivals run every year and others are swapped out, but I think that only works because most of their festivals consist entirely of getting double drops and a bonus bag of items from bosses and daily quests in a specific map and it doesn't matter to most players where exactly that is. Even then they routinely get players asking on the forum if one of the ones that hasn't shown up for years can come back. I'd prefer new things added to the existing festivals rather than new ones. The obvious thing is World 3 and 4 for SAB, but I also like the scavenger hunts or collections which tell a story (basically quests, but GW2 style) and those could fit in any festival. 6
SandraSolace.7682
Plus, we also still have a festival that is not complete (world 3 and 4). Just as Danikat mentioned. I personaly would love to see that being done. And maybe after that, upgrading. I love the festivals but if they were on more then they are now, I would never be able to get to other stuff to finish or start in any game mode.
Tiamat.8254
I would be happy with an extra song in the music game for wintersday definitely. Maybe some Canthan inspired events could be added to the festivals. 🤷♂️ 3
TheQuickFox.3826
We have enough festivals if you ask me. I rather see the development resources go into game content like Living World and expansions. 3
Inculpatus cedo.9234
New content has been added to existing Festivals many years. Maybe there will be something new this year for Wintersday. One never knows. 🤷♀️
solemn.9670
Yeah they usually add a few new things every year which is pretty cool. You're still getting 100% more content than WvW has for 7 years 2
Konig Des Todes.2086
2012 hinted at a continuing storyline involving Tixx and Toxx's rogue behavior of toy rights liberation. Such plotlines are... seldom done well in media, but still, I would love to see some Tixx and Toxx story progression. Worse, most story content from that got removed in 2013, much like Halloween's 2012 content, and has been MIA since. They usually add something every few years, last being 2019's mount adventure (if you can count that). So we're due to something new. But we only really had three story contents - 2012's establishment, 2014's Grawnk, and 2018's strike. I don't just want new content. I want new story content. Halloween didn't get something this year because of LWS1 and its last story content being 2021 so it wasn't quite due for brand new content. But Wintersday is, and Lunar New Year definitely is (no new content since 2020). 4
SoftFootpaws.9134
I would like to see a Valentine's themed festival added, as currently there's nothing for couples to really enjoy in the game. We got a wedding area in Lion's Arch, a few toy bundles, an outfit, and that's it. In many games relationships are a major feature, in this game they just don't exist. Luthan.5236
No. People would burn out with too much stuff to do. The existing festivals are enough. Unless they'd remove an existing one in favor of adding a new one. 3

As it is, most people just do achievements and then stick to whatever they find most enjoyable, and even if you add 10 more things, that'll remain the same. They'll do the 10 new things just long enough to complete any achievements tied to them / to do them once, and then they'll stick to the one or two things overall they enjoy most. Whether it's new activities in a festival, or new festivals, or just new content in general, they'll stick to do the bare minimum for one-time rewards, then stick to whatever they enjoy most overall. That said, we don't need new festivals - we basically get a 3 week festival every 2 months. That's just 6 weeks shy of half the year covered with festival content. With the other months being new content releases, usually. There really isn't room for any more festivals without annoying overlapping to occur. And minor festivals like (American) Thanksgiving or St. Valentine's Day aren't really important enough to merit a full on festival. At most, ANet should only do what minor festivals got in GW1 - a weekend (and later a week) of special drops tied to that festival. They do this, in a way, by having themed items in the gemstore. Luthan.5236
Yes. And if you add more achievements they will feel "forced" to do the achievements ... having less tim to do the stuff they enjoy most. (That is what will make the game feel more like work - instead of fun.) I mean: I recently even read in the WvW forums that there had been tournaments in the past - and people "burned out" when that was not a big deal and you could just still play normally. (Seems like they cared for the little advanage the top place gave - with stuff that afaik is not exclusive anymore and can be obtained leisurely at your own pace.) Especialyl with the limited time of the festivals ... it always feels like a pressure: Do at least the dailies. Even when all skins from the chest you get for doing x dailies are done. (Then bunkering the chest ... you never might know if they might update it in the future with other rewards.) Now it is "do the weekly" as well. Then the annuals. For some (not for me though) they might feel the need to buy everything of the weekly vendor at each festival. (Easy for some. Expensive and/or grindy for others.) The vendors for the more expensive stuff ... there you can buy the currency for gold. Yes you can do the stuff you enjoy most - to get the gold. (Doing something else instead of the festival. Then buying the festival currency.) And you can prepare over the year ... to have money ready. Does not work for the other stuff. (Dailies, annuals + the festivals where the currency is account bound. Like SAB.) Adding more festivals ... will only add more pressure. I think GW1 seems to have had a good way - with also the "minor" things (listed on the GW1 events/festivals page). Where just some drops or small stuff got added. (We here had the "rushes" things already. Where for getting credit and the rewards you could participate once - or once per tier. Then doing other stuff.) Worst though is when they put different stuff together: PvP season start, festival start ... and a new living world chapter. (Though personally I do not dislike the main PvP season - enough time. Mini season is more of a problem cause of the time pressure if I want to obtain all chests. So the Wintersday this year won't be a big deal for me. It also is one of the more leisurely events with quicker/faster dailies.) Edited December 12, 2022 by Luthan.5236

It would not be the first time players either new, veteran or just getting back into it, feel overwhelemed. Add to that a festival every couple of weeks and it's like "What now?!?" @Ashantara, I have no idea if it's true but there could also be RL relationships that have started on GW or GW2. (might have seen it once or might just have been a RL couple playing together but still ;)) Edited December 12, 2022 by SandraSolace.7682
Luthan.5236
Personally I'd prefer a partner with different hobbies. Or at least different games played then. But I guess that is a matter of tastes. Gives more to talk about ... + less likely to argue over your favorite stuff. If you like different things and can talk about them with not getting into arguments about different opinions. (Imagine both playing different professions as main and one wants the other profession nerfed. :D) This valentine stuff (well ... it is commercialy - everything got commercialized even more ... even expensive presents on easter nowadays): There is stuff on the store. I remember a few items. I do not think a festival is needed. With all that stuff ... only the asian grind games come to my mind - selling a ton more. (And GW2 already feels like "too much" with all the different stuff in the gem store that visually feels out of place in the world of Tyria.) Why would you want to make a festival there? This also is a pretty good thing where minor stuff could get added. Some valentines cake to the drops. And a buff for magic find for a week. (I mentioned the "minor events" above - that seem to have existed in GW1 - at least according to the wiki. And still available every year.) Solvar.7953
I think it also depends on what a new festival would bring. A lot of the current festivals have some similar activities (a race around the area, or an adventure gathering things). Maybe a jumping puzzle. Some place where you go an kill things. They manage to fit in some variation of those (halloween labyrinth is a bit different than dragon arena or toypocolypse). But for any new festival, I think some really clever ideas of what you do in it would be needed, otherwise it would probably just feel like a rehash of the other festivals that already exist. Anyandrell.6238
This might not be a popular opinion, but myself, I can't wait for Wintersday exactly as it is. Every year I look forward to smash miniature trees and houses, bring hay to dolyaks, paint the princess dolls, follow the dolyak pooping presents, etc. Exactly as it is. Same for Mad King. I personally don't care much for the other 4 festivals. Just these two. Exactly as they are.

lummuss.6850
The world will be ending with the arrival of an asteroid and you will still be asking for new content for the game! Get real, it won't be today or tomorrow that they will stop to listen to the players' opinions. These requests from the community to want the company to improve the festivals have been around for a long time, every year someone creates a topic asking or suggesting to create new content (because they always post the same thing throughout the year). I'm tired of GW2, I'm tired of dealing with this cycle of "same things". It got boring and tiring already. Was it so difficult to extend some festival? Create dynamics or mechanisms different from what already exists? They put in a new collection of weapons and think that this is indeed an extraordinary evolution for the players' entertainment and gameplay. Every festival is the same disappointment: the boring and repetitive gameplay that forces us to close the game. Hooray! Hooray! It's the boring's days!"
