Impossibility to 1) send a support ticket; 2) buy gems through a re-added and verified payment channel

Hi,

I wanted to buy some gems today, I tried to do it through my paypal (having balance for that). Error code 80808 - meaning, please contact support.

I was like, ok...

I deleted and re-added my paypal with all verifications ... same error.

I went to send a ticket and then, despite being logged in etc., on this page: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/fr

The log in button does not redirect me to log in. The send request does not work, goes to a page saying: you shall connect to your Arenanet account (which I was already on the page before).

I decided to go incognito mode to try again, same issue.

I tried this page: https://account.arena.net/login

Same issue.

Oh and: same error code on this website https://buy.guildwars2.com/en-us

Recommended by the assistance itself (mentionned here: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/fr/articles/4411885838483-Problème-d-achat-avec-la-méthode-de-paiement-Paysafecard-et-iDeal)

Is it not possible to buy gems anymore ?

Thank you for the help, sorry it's not in a support ticket, I would love to but can't.

Update:

I tried with a credit card and it works... but I would rather use my paypal balance...

So the question is: what is wrong with Paypal ? Has anyone issue with that ?

And has anyone else issue with being able to send a support ticket ?

Thanks !

The login button on the support site will only refresh the page if you have cross-site scripts blocked, which is a common feature of privacy/tracking protection.

You can alternatively email support at support@arena.net

As for potential problems with PayPal, note they require a backup funding source, so you have to have a card/bank linked to the account.

Thank you for the privacy feature pointing, it's true that i'm using this stuff.

I'll try on a browser without it... but then I still don't understand why when I type the link directly (the one that you can see when hovering "send a request" it does not work either).

For paypal, I have a card linked to it and I have the balance. And the error code means: "Your purchase attempt was prevented due to our general security checks and purchase limits. Please contact Support for assistance."

So it's definitely from Anet side that something is blocking... see: https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/4409418445843-Common-Payment-Error-Codes-and-Error-Messages

But now, I may be able to send it via a ticket !

It doesn't work because the first link is what triggers the script - it checks the URL and redirects you. You're then redirected again before reaching the final page. One of those will probably work.

Its because the website is old and browsers are adding more and more security features in the last few years. You need to disable some of them for older sites to work, at least until ArenaNet does an overhaul.

If you're using Firefox, there's a shield icon in the left of your address bar. Click it.

I had the exact same issue.

1. Wanted to create ticket -> login button not working.

2. Not receiving gems and no disclaimer before buying the gems that it might take 24h or longer.

The lack of transparency is jaw dropping. You take customers money and then leave them in the dark?

That's not how it works.

You can always contact the CS Team by sending an email to 'support@arena.net'.
