Underwater Mechanist

I am user number 3,457,208 requesting that you remove that god awful underwater mechanist ability "Depth Charges?" and give us our mechanist underwater please. I love using it on land but the rare times i do have to enter the water i have to switch to a whole new elite spec just to remain viable and then swap back over to mechanist when back on land. You guys made an amazing expansion involving fishing and water with siege turtles that can fight underwater and walk, albeit slowly, and then you did so well on the mechanist. You undo all of that awesomeness as a mechanist underwater because your entire elite spec is tied up in the mech abilities and when the mech disappears your a subpar core engi with no toolbelt or much good damage. Please anet fix this. It's been almost a year now since EoD launch and while getting to play LWS1 has been an amazing nostalgia trip its diminished a little when playing mechanist and we have to go for a swim. Did the Jade Tech people not understand how to waterproof? That joke aside i am serious please program quickly the ability for us to use the mech underwater or at least tell us if we are getting our hopes of this change happening for nothing?

Their priorities are definitely in the wrong place.

I assumed at launch that they didn't make mech work underwater because of crunch.  I figured the higher ups had them pressed for time so they'd fix it later. It's been 10 months now.

I suppose this is going to get added on the backlog of things to do like replace Mortar kit placeholder model.

There is one small work-around for this. It is not perfect:

Mech Core: J-Drive

Quote

While dismissed or away for repairs, your mech supports you with an occasional aerial bombardment.

This also works under water. In combination with Mech Support: Depth Charges this can be a decent DPS improvement. Still not as good as having real toolbelt skills or the actual mech being present.

I hold GW2 in a slightly higher regard than some MMO's solely because of the underwater content.  Is that content the best or even focused on... no, but it's there.  All classes that are lacking the ability to use their specs underwater need to be fixed, I personally know that Renegade and Mech are hit hard by this.

I support this fix!  Please list other classes hurt by not having underwater abilities, let's all get help!

No one has good underwater class mechanics. The most hilarious one is that all Chronomancer Wells don't work under water including Mirage Staff Ambush.

That means if you are providing Alacrity for a Fractals that disappears on the underwater instance.

The whole thing needs a rework.

Firebrand tomes work underwater , photon forge on holo , shroud skills on scourges, and so do overloads on tempest. If you want alacrity underwater you would run renegade or tempest.

Even if mech worked underwater, shift signet doesn't and neither does overclock signet. This means your mech doesn't do the same amount of damage or boon output and with the current iteration of Mechanical Genius you would need to do three dimensional range math.
