Gifts for the poor little Orphans ?

Is it me, or did the potential drops for the Orphans Drastically get lowered ? I must have opened 300 gifts today, and didn't get a -single- item I could give back to the children...

I'm puzzled by this, that has never been so bad in term of drop rate

Thanks to those lovely research notes... they removed ALL the food items from the gifts, so that effects what you can use for the orphan gifts.   You now have to burn through your karma to buy the toys from the vendor to make the gifts for the orphans.. Just more hoops to jump through cause of them stupid research notes.

More reasons to dislike EoD with each passing month. No more expansion purchases for me until they have been live for a few months.

Yeah, we raised it during Halloween. The feedback was ignored.

If memory serves, we can craft those foods at least?

Indeed the food items Can be crafted, by a level 400 chef, which older players will find trivial, but I think is needlessly skewed against anyone who doesn't craft, or even hasn't progressed That far into the game.

If the reasoning was indeed for the research notes, it gives me even Less good will to work with that ridiculous system... And I thought I couldn't think even lower than that.

To be clear, I dont even Need to engage with that part of Wintersday, I just liked to literally open present and give the foods, half to the dolyak, and half to the orphans, it was a nice little habit I had. Talk about of a sad wintersday :<

I just find that needlessly annoying, it's essentially us being punished for refusing to engage with bad design. That isn't winning the one who designed that system any fans...

Also, a friend reminded me : that doesn't explain why the ugly sweaters/socks have equally vanished, if those were put back in, atleast we'd have something for the kids, and the research note system isn't impacted, but nothing seems to drop

I haven’t seen the ugly clothes for years. They were removed from game as drops a long time ago weren't they?

You may be right, I'm getting too old for this 😞 Still would have been a pretty good thing to bring back if they were going to remove the food items

God I hate research notes.

Same. Should have been one of the Jade Bot salvage modules so you could at least passively earn them while playing content instead of sitting at a crafting station destroying things. It's disappointing that they nerfed festival loot boxes instead of just re-evaluating how their contents interacted with their new system.

Forgot about this being another reason for the food until I was looking at the vendors.  Grrrrr.

Right!   Those poor orphan will starve this yeah.  Shame on you Anet.  1 less event to do I guess. 😞   Put in that useless Hatched Chili from Grothmar.  They would finally have a use.

Ugh I can't tell you how much I love the food drops being reduced / eliminated. I've always disliked how food items have no value and no point in being crafted. Every time food drops get reduced here and there I feel like it's another big win for my chef I've invested so much time and money into.

Back to birthday cake, i guess...

I just read in Anet's website:

"Donation Drive

Speak with the Charity Corps Seraph in the Crown Pavilion to purchase Rolls of Wrapping Paper. These rolls can be combined with various items earned from Wintersday activities to create Wrapped Gifts. Give these gifts to orphans throughout Divinity’s Reach and get some well-earned karma for your good deeds."

I wonder what are those various items  are?  Never got anything from loot to create gifts.  Anyone has?

It is from previous years you could get socks, sweaters and hats.

Then they discontinued that and you could get holiday food instead that was dicontinued earlier this year.
