Heel of Soul.7486
In the past few weeks we have encountered an Ele Tempest that takes little to no damage over a long period of time. As the ele is taking no damage they have been able to down 2 or 3 of us quite quickly. Can anyone comment on or identifying what build this might be? Thanks
Infusion.7149
They're running offhand focus and probably celestial gear. They probably outsustain you and you are just dying to attrition. It is unlikely they bursted you down on tempest.
Guybrush.4762
It probably is Celestial tempest either double Dagger or Dagger/Focus ; both are playable. Their are multiple variant but you can find a good baseline build on Guildjen. Celestial tempest has a high sustain potential, in order to beat them you need to play kinda passively and fish for an opportunity. Then, when you see one, lock them in place with a chain of CC and throw as much damage as you can to burst them down. Soft CC is ok-ish but remember they have good cleanses. If you did not manage to scratch them then it is possible they either outskill you or play bunker (it is ok to disengage when you are not having fun). However if you drop their health in the danger zone but they still survived that mean they are now in panic mode and they may try to use their big heal to resustain ; at that point you need to assess if it is worth it to to maintain as much pressure as you can while interrupting any potential healing skill or if you would rather resustain yourself and reset the fight. Basically the idea is that elementalists have a squishier base than average but gain good survivability through active skills. A constant medium pressure is suboptimal on them because it basically give them time to rotate through their active defenses. In short: try to coordinated with your team mate and go all out at the same time. Edited December 23, 2022 by Guybrush.4762

Thats probably "someone" (it might have been me lul) running the Signettempest im advertising in this forums for quite some time now. Its a beast in 1vX and can down people in seconds. You use Doom/tormentsignet to vomit a wide array of Conditions on your foe, and burry a Immobilize under 5 other conditions. This makes cleansing the immobilzie VERY hard. Then you just lay firefields under him and your enemy will melt. Both builds work in PvP and WvW! Dagger/Focus: True bunker. good sustain, toptier Cleanse, toptier CC, Medium Damage http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAg2lZwGZasLGJO0PntdA-z1IY1oh/MiUBkrEQyzyWTbA-w ^Try and root someone with Earthsignet, Earth3, or Earth overload.... and then lay another damageing field on them to burst people. Sceptre/Dagger: Ranged caster. Good sustain, Good cleanse, medium CC. Good Damage. http://gw2skills.net/editor/?PGgAs2lZwaYasLGJOyPntdA-z1IY1oh/MiVC0rCQyzyWTbAA-w ^Fire AA hurts like a truck. Cast Dragonstooth and then cast any of your roots (earthsignet, Aftershock) to apply immobilize, so he cant dodge your Dragonstooth. Choice is yours! Good luck. Bladestrom.6425
@Sahne.6950 curious, i've seen this said few times before, how does sceptre aa hit like a truck? max it does is 350 dps give or take a few assuming opponent has no condy removal. that wont scratch anyone in PVP. Bladestrom.6425
Even with max quickness @50% which you wont have it still hits for nothing? what dps do you you get against a fully armoured moving target? I know you can root someone, but at that point you are bursting them with your big spells. All of this is predicated on them not removing burn as well to boot. The build has +60%burnduration. This increases the fire burn damage alot. Just watch my Videos:D Edited December 25, 2022 by Sahne.6950
Bladestrom.6425
the stats was based on 100% burn duration and 1k condy. I watched the video, you play well, but the AA does hit like a wet sponge unless the target is rooted, you can see it in the video where you are spamming.
Sahne.6950
Sometimes skills dont have to hit for 7k damage with every hit, to be a threat. melting someone over the course of 5 seconds does the job aswell. the constant burn application will overwhelm the cleanses of your enemy in no time. Even when the burn doesnt actually deal damage because the cleanse it, you still are depleting their cleanses slowly but surely. Fire AA is immense pressure.
