Reaper Greatsword needs a buff

Everybody complains about reaper greatsword animation being slow. After the vindicator double dodge + animation speed increase....i think this can be done also to greatsword reaper auto attacks and Gravedigger (second skill from greatsword). Don't get me wrong, all pvp players + some from pve complain about this, not just me and it feels kinda unfair for the buff to happen on vindicator and not on reaper greatsword as well.

unacceptable because necro is already amount if not the weakest class in game for pvp right now. ..  if you cant handle Necro you honestly dont know how to play against necro..  in the current meta necro is free food..  you want to nerf necro dmg ?  sure but nerf elementalist first warrior , mesmer rev thief and many more classes who do much more dmg with much more ease axe 2 has duration its not 1 strike..         and even after you nerf the others its not enough. .  give necro more stability and resistance which he have none..  give necro proper ways to clean condition and much lower cast time skills/utility.     that he doesnt have... oh yes and give mobility which only mobility reaper have is  shroud 2 ..  ... . on top of that if you cc a necro during shroud he cant even get out of shroud and he cant use utility or stun break.. he just gonna lose all life force and die..

No. Necro shouldn't have stability in any way, shape or form. Every time necro got access to stability it became problematic (with scourge, a while ago, or when necro\guard became the meta), since the intended counterplay against a necromancer is CC

No. Necro shouldn't have stability in any way, shape or form. Every time necro got access to stability it became problematic (with scourge, a while ago, or when necro\guard became the meta), since the intended counterplay against a necromancer is CC

you honestly dont know what you are talking about at all.. 
reaper mostly been buffed in pve.. its close to being unplayable in pvp right now
its not 1 buff away from meta its 1 nerf away from being deleted from game 

intended not intended is irrelevant years passed and all classes changes. .  intended of necro is to have strong passive def in form of life and life force and hit like a trunk..   that changed with all the nerfs to the class..   the second life bar means 0 and necro have 0 resustain now days with the nerf to blood magic.

well of power is useless becuase its 5 seconds duration and expecting you to stand in 1 place for 5 seconds..  goodluck with that. 
spectral walk nerfed into 1 condition every 2 seconds. . goodluck with that...  its RNG  if you have 4 conditions on you it will clean 1 at random every 2 seconds goodluck with RNG and you will die. 

the right statement would;ve been..  " necro used to have 1 of the best cleaning"   but while all classes had their condition cleaning buffed necro had its conditikon cleaning nerfed and result is necro is among the worst condition cleaning right now.

There was either a critical reading error from shorts or a listening/reading error from you. Reaper is one or two buffs away from becoming meta in pve.

In pvp. Reaper is a willbender with less damage and speed and a little more tankiness which is negated by being much slower. Overall, its weaker than willbender both in power and in the role of teamfighter and willbender itself isn't meta.

If you're significantly more skilled than other players you can kick them around on any necromancer build, even scourge, but you can do that on any class.

To the OP, making greatsword autos and greatsword 2 faster isn't going to fix the problem with greatsword. The problem is greatsword is a melee weapon with no mobility and poor defenses on top of slow animation speed given to a class that's not meant to be in melee. This makes it terrible both for offensive pressure and defensive counterplay. You're better off taking notes from daredevil and not using your specialized weapon unless you want to meme.

the bigger problem isnt even the great sword in its self.. is necro and reaper as a power build necro..    traitlines are over nerfed and offer 0 defensive ..   and utility are over nerfed aswell..   the whole class is kinda outdated with traits that doesnt work well with most weapons ..

Necromancer is supposed to keep enemies away from it with long duration fears, chills, cripples and having all ranged attacks baring the dagger melee auto attack. It should also be evident on why no one uses main hand dagger when trying to be competitive in any game mode. But otherwise that's the main core mechanic; get away from me. Everything else being toughness from death magic, lifestyle from blood magic, corruptions and weakness application from curses, or extra lifeforce from soul reaping are all supplemental to the core design of keeping the enemy away from the necromancer.

 

Then you have reaper only tool to manage playing the opposite of this core design is rise! as nightshade pulses too slowly for pvp especially against something like catalyst and does nothing to anything threatening in pve because of defiance. And Rise! But beyond that I love rise! Its just not quite there.

but this is not even the case anymore..   basically only core necro still have a somewhat "long fear"   and thats 1 fear in shroud 3 and then if you fully spec into fear you will use spectral ring and the trait for fear duration and dread if you build into power.. .  but power core necro is a faaaaar off meta build..       reaper have very meh fear on shroud but dont have fear on weapon skills and it also cant really afford to use spectral ring becuase it needs all the stun breaks it can get..   the very same thing goes to power harbringer ...  

now lets talk about death magic and blood magic..   they used to be good but today they are 0  ..   all that death magic offer today for power builds is  like toughness and 200 power assuming you can even keep the stacks and as reaper infact as any power build you wont be able to keep 20 stacks permanently especially in today block=invun + CC meta..     the traitline is nerfed so badly to a point where no one use it. .  (for right reason) 

blood magic .. blood magic been replaced by spite because after the nerfs its a traitline that offer nothing..  the life shiphon is nerfed to be 27 health on hit?  really?   assuming you can hit someone thats still barely any life and 0 resustain..   
the  blood bond trait for active  siphon is so outdated what is the requirement to active it?  apply bleeding to target with 5 bleeding..  theres only 1 necro weapon that causes bleed and thats scepter.. .   so any none scepter gets nothing .. 
vampiric presence has radius of 600..   while most weapons will attack at 900 range..   like axe / scepter/and even harbringer shroud ..  you say necro should stay in distance but at 900 range this is 1 more trait that doesnt work. 
unholy might is another sad case of over nerf..  used to be 1 of the main ways to clean conditions and also sustain life force nerfed to only consume 2 conditions  and give you 3%  life force?  useless especially when it require you to enter shroud and leave shroud and more so when it transfer 5 conditions from allies to you and only consume 2 you only gonna end up hurting your self..
no one even use blood magic aswell.. and the list can go on..  the healing skill signet you know the radius on that one?  180 !!!!! not even reaper on shroud attack at 180 range..   so basically its a healing signet that doesnt work?   why?   warrior signet doesnt require anything its a passive 200-300 healing per second..   elementalist doesnt require anything its easy 200 life per cast very easy 400 per second while attacking at any range..    so necro weapons/skills range are almost all 900 and you limit the singet to 180?   
all in all necro as a class and not only reaper is in bad spot right now and its not Greatsword alone.. . its an entire class that is outdated with skills that been over nerfed over the years to point where the class doesnt do anything better than other classes out there..   it doesnt have sutain like other classes doesnt have mobility doesnt have stability doesnt have condi clean like other classes doesnt have blocks/invun like other classes and right now it doesnt even have the dmg other classes have..  its overall a bad class right now

but my point is.. take reaper replace the GS with staff and axe+focus now reaper is good? its not. .its still bad..  but how? now you are not using GS..  so clearly GS isnt the main problem..  becuase even when using diffrent weapons reaper still weak..   so theres more to it than GS.. .  reaper used to be more than decent before all the nerfs that cames post EoD and it was decent using axe/staff..  now its not why? because skills/traits and utility are ove nerfed

Balance in GW2 does not aim to make classes or specs close in strength. It is about representation. Bringing down the number of necromancer players was intended. So for every so called buff the class received this year a better choice already existed in necromancer PvP builds. Nothing was really a buff while other under represented classes got real buffs.

The only reason necromancer would receive a buff is when it is not played. Though there are still way to many necromancer playing.

If Anet decide to buff Power Reaper for whatever reason, they should focus on Greatsword or Shouts. 

Why? It's pretty, pretty simple. Only Reaper can use Greasword or Shouts. So by buffing Greatsword or Shouts you can't buff any other builds (e.g. Harbinger).

 

If Anet decide to buff Condi Scrouge they either should target Scrouge traits, utilities or weapon (Torch). 

You should apply targeted buffs. That obviously doesn't mean you can't choose to buff "core" things to buff more specializations at once, but you will do that if you want to buff more specs at once.

YOU ARE WRONG  because necro as a whole is garbarge right now and not just reaper and not just GS..   necro lack sustain and utility .   

and you need to go see the doctor for thinking that you can tell me which classes to enjoy..  if i enjoy playing necro then its up to me..

I only play my Reaper in WvW, but regardless of mode GS is slow AF in all modes. Is the balance delta that big between the two competitive modes?

Well, then that sucks because I've never played a necro in any game before and I actually went with a leap when choosing necro since I naturally gravitate towards classes like the Warrior and Elementalist type.

I don't think you read what I wrote so I'll repeat it just this one time only in a short sentence: Necromancer was designed to keep enemies away while reaper was not given the tools to overcome this core design.

Vindicator's greatsword also does not have any mobility skills. However revenant (herald because let's be honest, core rev was an after thought at the launch of HOT.) at its core is designed with melee in consideration.

Ah greatsword 3 is a leap. My bad. Though I already mentioned revenant is designed at its core with melee in mind but necromancer is not.

I never said necro as whole wasn't suffering. But we're talking about greatsword so I centered my argument around reaper. So chill out, man.

not fighting you nor am i angry with you. .  im actually just frustrated of the situation with some insanely over performing builds then necro cant even do much.. .   new ele can spam reflect projectile barrier none stop..   and its tanky and great dmg ..  spell breeaker and its cc kitten..    hammer/condi..    and chrono..   peopple seem to even forget how op thief is because of these new meta classes.. .     tbh i think im just quitting necro today or taking a pause from gw2 untill they rebalance some stuff

That's always going to be the case for someone. Its either they cannot hit the sweet spot on classes or they intentionally do not to force meta changes. I'm not really sure which it is but either way the playerbase suffers as usual. They leave the mess for long enough for the pvp population to shrink permanently some more and we do it again with another set of classes. Eventually we'll run of players but by then Guild Wars 3 should be out.
