Thank you, I read up on it but thought maybe I missed something.  Ugh, guess it's time to break out some alts lol.

Actually EoD is the first time you DON'T have to do it on a second character.

There is a set of repeatable achievements you can do instead.

The lanterns are only visible to characters that have already completed the particular map.

Ooooh! Wondered what those were for, haven't finished the lanterns yet.  Thank you!

There are lanterns on 3 of the maps that requires doing the map metas.

Seitung - Aetherblade Refuge, Echovald -  Aspenwood Sublevel B1 Aspenwood Research Facility , and Dragon's End - Jade Wind's Respite .  However, the one in Dragon's End can be done at any time if you max out your HP, know exactly where to go and can get to the lantern very fast, and be ready to heal yourself.

Very important note: If you haven't done map completions on any of the maps, you'll not see the lanterns. Since there are PoIs at all those areas, map completions are only possible after doing the meta (meta completions not required) except for Dragon's End. The PoI for DE is easily obtained by going in fast and back out. Always leave those PoIs for last so you do not have to do the meta twice to get the lanterns. Soon as meta ends (or after getting PoIs), log onto character screen and back in immediately so you'll be placed on the same map instances. The lanterns will now be visible.

I have all the maps completed, just now about going back for lanterns.   Great tips, thank you.  Also didn't know about the ones only during the metas!!

I genuinely like playing mostly one character, so I've been uncertain as to how it works.  I've had the last steps of assembly waiting for months, and thought now that I've finished a couple of other legendaries I wanted completed, now is that time to go back to these.   I was going to craft the sword, then thought hey I'm using a staff mostly right now as my secondary weapon, so why not...then wait what if I want another...and this is how I ended up here lol.
