Should ArenaNet patch the Leviathan farm, in order to make fishing profitable again?

I think it’s relaxing. I am fishing ingame right now, very relaxing.

It's not, you lose your 100 stack buff easily if  you don't defend your boat fast enough then quickly get back on, and if you aren't fast enough at fishing and 24/7 paying attention you slow the rest of your group down and they have to wait for you.

Fishing is extremely stressful in this game.

You do realize that all prices on TP are controlled by the players? Any overfarming is because we, the players, chooses to engage in them. Change gold to gems and purchase items from the Gem Store and poof! your gold is gone. And a portion of the gold/gem is taken out of circulations. And what exactly do you mean by "lack  of any real reward"? What sort of reward are you looking for?

You do realize that people engage in those farms because of unbreakable gems store tools, right? The unbreakables broke the stability of the crafting economy. Instead of having the materials being backed by the cost of the tools (a value anchor), people are taking everything. ANet has not added a proper, and desirable item sink so the materials, save the top bracket are nosediving. If people aren't buying or selling anything, the economy breaks down. Plus, what amount of gold on a 34c crafting item is really being removed from the economy through the tradepost effectively?

Since you don't really don't get it, since we don't have the gear treadmill, all we have are skins, (Skins that human programmers must regularly churn out). Ascendeds are effectively the max stats one can earn (Legendaries just allow stat changes at will). To keep people playing, you got to make the skins desirable and to up the odds significantly higher than if you did have a treadmill. Hence, people are churning out more materials that further depreciate on the market.

No. The low value items will not affect the economy in any way. The higher the value, the items will be gathered more frequently with or without Unlimited tools to farm for gold.

And most will still take almost anything because the gathering tools are so cheap. Items with very low value are mostly ignored since they are not worth gathering, With Unlimited tools, you'd still ignore those items because it's not worth the time to deviate from your path to gather them.

Farming Ambergris, which this thread is about, definitely do not need any gathering tools!

As for your comments regarding skins, I really don't get how that is relevant. Players will always farm items. If there is no demand for any particular item, then the players will just move on to the next and next. Everything will depreciate over time as the next new thing are introduced. And of course, new items has to be churned out regularly or this will be a very dead game. So I really fail to see your point.

Just gonna point out one thing. As long as your skiff does not “die” you can take your time as long as your skiff is nearby to kill those mobs. You will lose your buff, but when you enter the skiff again, you will regain it. The buff follows the skiff and not you. This is why some players join parties to get the fishing buff and leaves to fish by themselves. Sharing the fishing buff since it’s bound to the skiff and not the player. Just a little fyi
