GrosseVogel.8503
Why can't we adjust builds in Casual matches? When testing out different weapons, skills or traits it is a real pain to be locked in. I understand during ranked matches. But maybe its just how I feel, we shouldn't be locked into a single build when the match starts. I go into casual cause I don't want to bring an untested build into Ranked. But at this point what is the difference, they both lock you into a single build. Ranked is pretty much exactly the same but better rewards, but with more angry players if you're not doing well. In WvW which is a competitive PvP mode, you can change your build on the fly without needing to go back to the starting waypoint. Maybe I'm missing something or wrong, but its been annoying me lately when I change part of my build that completely ruins it and I am basicly useless and have to wait for the match to end. I know there is the arena part of the pvp map; however, that doesn't compare to the actual matches.

Some people are afraid that pvp could turn into a endless cycle of buildswapping to counter the opponent. Then he changes his build to counter yours again.... you die and swap to counter him again.... yada yada.... The problem is, that certain builds have alot of flexibility and can adapt well, basicly always have a way to counter the opponent, while others dont have that freedom. It could become a balancing nightmare. I think this whole posts originates from the frustration, when you for example have equipped the wrong weapon and are forced to be a burden to your team for the next 10 minutes. At the start of the match there is the ready button. Just hit Ready when you checked that you are indeed ready. Luthan.5236
When you play engineer main and have a different build in PvP (I for some time played Holo in PvE and core engineer in PvP ... before mechanist got released) it could really happen that you have an un-usable weapon. With the 2 weapon sets we can use - but no switching when "in combat" + having the same set in PvE and PvP ... I manually needed to manually swap from sword+shield to the rifle set. But I sometimes just forgot ... in the first match of PvP at the day. It just takes too long with people usually not clicking ready ... that I alt-tab out after accepting the queue. Then the sound notifies me of the match startign. Alt-tabbing back to the game - and: ... then you can have the sword+shield equipped on the core engineer. Only able to use the shield + utility skills (good if there are at least some kits). 😄 For build swapping though: I would at least allow it in spawn. Would be more fun. Even in ranked. There should be a downside though: Like adding a +1 minute to the spawn timer. Or 30 seconds. That can already make a huge difference where you would not want to have the others play 4 vs. 5 if it is pretty close and the enemy team might then gain a huge advantage when you have to wait. Would add more strategy/tactics to the game ... other than combat itself (some death-match purists only want to have that) and the conquest mechanic + checkic map to be on the best place at the bestt time (that is what I prefer - what should be most important).
