Yeah exactly that. Hence why I think its more of a boost to attackers and more of a nerf to those trying to told on to what they have. Only positive it might encourage people to hold their camps a bit more but not sure that offsets the other changes.

Yep hoping for weeks of 10-15+ golems at every camp so Anet finally see how stupid that is. Otherwise I still think it's good. When people say "well then zergs just run and take camps huehuehue"... yeah but that's an incredibly ineffective use of a zerg. And there are multiple camps on the border. If they run in circles unopposed to the point enemies cant backcap on cd with smaller groups, well they would have taken all the camps anyway.

Precisely. Calling it QoL improvements is misleading. 

If they're expecting anything except derision from the big announce, then it just shows how far detached from their players they are.

New Weekly Achievements

I don't mind some extra gold.

 

Siege

This seems to incentivize attacking over defending - rams are usually in use when the objective is undefended or the defenders are outnumbered, and ballistas aren't reliable defensive siege. Aka mostly a karma train buff.

 

Objectives

Again, helping attackers. Though it lessens the impact of non prime time upgrading. More focus on camps seems interesting.

Curious to see how the doly buff turns out. Escorting them sure is everyone's favorite activity... The buff would need to be massive to have a noticeable impact, and that would reduce the tasks roamers can effectively perform. Just make the damage reduction buff 100% but remove the invuln dolys thing to encourage encounters around them.

Again I'm getting a "go forth and zerg" vibe from this update. I don't like it, personally.

 

"Address player population balance issues through the World Restructuring and Alliances features"

All the population balance isn't going to help the game mode if they don't encourage players to keep playing the game mode while they're outnumbered. And I think some of the planned changes might achieve the opposite.

Anet thinks WvW is only two blobs face planting each other. They're kind of right a lot of the time, but they'll be right all of the time if we can't take our time to maneuver and plot. Who's going to want to scout or anything?

That's the WvW announcement I'd love to see. "QOL: In this update we've addressed ALL of the reported exploits that have been reported over the years. We've also "taken care of" the main exploiters of these reports. You won't see them or the exploits in WvW ever again."

This is a wildly embarrassing update.  I don't know who looks at siege in WvW and decides that rams are just too durable and thinks that ballistae are actually usable.  Truly baffling.

 

The rewards part is nice, probably.  I haven't looked too much into it, but more rewards for doing things should be good, right?  But rewards are easy to throw around.  What concerns me is that the updates to actual game mechanics are so consistently misguided.  I sometimes joke that Anet is nothing but zerglings, but maybe that's more accurate than I thought possible.

 

edit:  Forgot to mention that they're increasing the availability of offensive supply for some reason while also handicapping defense.  I do not know what game they are playing that this seemed like a good idea.

It's now even easier to drop 8 catapults on a structure despite active attempts to disrupt your supply gains.  And when you're pushed off, somehow, you can be sure that even fewer repairs will get done while you resupply more quickly than before.

Do they live in some alternate dimension where zergs struggle to take keeps because of static defenses?

Anyway, that about did in my last shred of hope for the game.

They run around with boon balls in wvw, not hard to see where their pov for these changes come from, I mean who else would complain about rams? not one person on these forums said one peep about rams. The ballista change would have been better if they lowered the siege damage shot cooldown by half. Too bad they don't like to discuss changes with the wvw general population, just their blob friends. 🤷‍♂️

okay so, ARE THEY ABSOLUTELY CRAZY?

 

why on f#cking earth would ballistas get buffs? they're only used to be absolutely kitten, literally one of the worst siege types

also more HP on siege, what a joke, why? especially on the most annoying ones like balli and rams...

and it's super unnecessary that the range of ram's ironhide gets buffs, just encourages, once again, abusing it. like idk what anet thinks people do, but what they do: they "hide" a fat blob inside a keep. the fat blob has yet 800~ extra stats from 1) guild buff 2) presence of the keep ... then the 30-40 attacker group gets also constantly shot by random trebs and catas who have 3) absurd no cap aoe spam and at 4) a solid amount of free random damage

oh yeah, sometimes the 50ish groups also randomly build rams, simply so they can abuse ironhide. and gigabrain anet INCREASED the HP of the rams so it gets now easier to abuse?

like really, we drift more and more into a "be the worst sport possible" behaviour in Wvw. all bad things get improved and even encouraged: cc spam by stab nerfs, condispam by sustain nerfs, boonspam by all strip sources and especially corruption nerfs, mesmer moa buff (like seriously, wth. most toxic thing next to engi pulls and anet thinks it's  a nice trolly idea to buff it and ruin many days of everyone)

well, so another month of Wvw degenerating into a slugpit. no other devs gotta hate their players as much as Wvw devs i guess...

edit: okay the 8g extra is surely nice. took long enough and is a good start, but that for once is a good change.

I'm guessing the camp and yak alterations were to help zergs, and make guild missions more....... challenging~  swc on the alpines will be the new hotspot :'D

Hmmm warclaw on gate I do when I'm either just being silly or when gates at 5% and rams disabled..... and not already in combat~

Might be able to balista gates more effectively now hahahhaha~

I welcome more wvw tickets since I don't have everything I want yet when it comes to wvw legendaries.

Every dedicated WvW player has more than enough skirmish claim tickets. After you have every legendary you have absolutely no use for them.

That's just not true. A lot of players have them, but there are still plenty of "dedicated WvW players" that need them. To state otherwise is either disingenuous or wrong.

 

Mind you, I still agree there should be some alternative use for those players like you who are sitting on an excess of the tickets with no actual use for them.

Another slap in the face for us PPK players!!!! 😡😡😡 Let us play our favorite sandbox fight arena mode as we want to!!!! I demand a second group of achievements, so all players can choose between both  WvW playstyles: PPK (👍) or PvDoor (💩)

 

For PPK achievement track I suggest:

 

1. let your home keep fall at prime, while you block the map

2. kill 1000 enemies in SMC without taking it

3. assemble a full zone blob and survive 5 minutes vs. a random cloud of 20 or less roamers

4. use waypoints 333 times without spending a single supply in a damaged wall

5. help your team by securing the windmill at south camp

6. sell 100 flame ram blueprints*

à 5 out of 6 or:

7. log off for the whole week, to make your team drop from Tier 1

 

* flame ram blueprints are used to build useless rams with supply**

**supply can be gathered in camps***

***camps are capture areas that can appear in 3 different colors****

****colors indicate whether a capture area is hold by your or the enemy team*****

*****team are the people that build waypoints******

******waypoints are these very helpful . . . ah ok you already know that

My thoughts:

Extra gold is always nice, just make sure it's for actually playing the game and not being AFK and flipping a camp every 10 mins like we currently see.

 

I don't need more tickets, I can't even spend them at the rate I earn them because memories of battle drop at a far lower rate. GIVE ME MEMORIES OF BATTLE INSTEAD!
Also give me something to spend the memories and tickets on, heck just give me a way to turn them into gold or even ectos/t1-6 bags/mystic coins so I can make legendary stuff.

Rams needed a bit of love and it's nice to see ballista getting a range upgrade for anti siege.

I worry that this update continues to push zerg gameplay where small scale and roaming has been killed off through gliding, warclaw and the hilarious state of "balance" leaving ranger the uncontested king of non zerg gameplay.

One update I'd love to see is that waypoints can only be contested if siege damage is taken. Right now there's many specs that can effectively contest a keep for hours and even if you kill the person they're right back there within a minute of the keep becoming uncontested. Then we can reduce warclaw speed so everyone and their mum doesn't travel around faster than a superspeed spammer because people can actually get back into fights at a reasonable pace 🙂

You really don't need a certain spec for that. Just use Warclaw to ride up to the gate, then dodge away, done.

As someone who is working on my first conflux and only has one set of legendary armor, more skirmish tickets are definitely needed. 35 extra per tier would be a better change, but myself and those of us that are still working on legendary gear will take anything we can get,

I call bs on that. You don't need to've played for years to be a dedicated player anyways. Also new(er) players can be dedicated to this mode.

It takes years to get all the legendaries from WvW as it is. And as I said, I don't have everything yet myself but my main mode to play is WvW. I just started with WvW later than you did.

Which is exactly why I objected to you saying "we" without any form of specification. Besides, I didn't say you were wrong, just saying that not everyone is in the same boat as you are.
