I don't think I ever encountered that in all of my time of playing DS. Holy wow. Even when I played on mes I don't think I ever had someone even demand something like that. That's just ridiculous. 

Yeah, I've never seen a portal used in DS. I run it almost every day. For a while I was doing it several times a day for achievements. 

I can expect mesmer portals in Drakkar, for instance, but even then I ask at the start of the fight who can do portal 1 and who can do portal 2. It's not hard to establish it in advance, and it's not hard to ask instead of demand.

Are you playing on na? in eu someone is always placing it.

You expect guardians to have syg, elementalists to not downed, mesmers to portal, warriors to banner, all necros hscg, revenants to bubble, rangers to immo, thieves to be useful and engineers power mech to stop afking. But reality is different.

Why people expect these? cause they are profession defining mechanics except not.

In Fractals people constantly /gg to save 2-5 seconds on every possible occasion (and no, I am not talking about the GGs executed so the group can replenish at the Mistlock Singularity), as there are checkpoints that trigger even before you have reached them. There are constantly portals demanded for 99 CM to save 3 seconds to get back faster to the first boss after each Anomaly platform phase (at 66% and 33%). And there are people porting into the center at 100 during the tether phase when you can walk the distance within 2 seconds.

It's downright crazy and stressful that EU kids are in such a rush these days. I mean, within a reasonable scope you wouldn't see me complaining, but this? Like, who the heck needs a portal at the end of Dragonstorm, really? - "Oh wow, you saved me 2 seconds of fingerwork on my keyboard and mouse... Brilliant!" 😂

The skorvald portals are not saving 2sec. Far more than that since the portal allows you to burst before he starts to dash and in very high dps group you can phase before he starts his dash which saves 30sec+.

The water phase tether is mostly so nobody gets singled by the tether and explodes alone. Just because NA is such a scourge infested nightmare does not mean EU has to be pug hellhole too.

It's just one many incidents lately where people get toxic when there are no portal shortcuts being used or when you miss their hectically placed portals (e.g. in Fractals).

What's up with the portal madness of late? Like, you can't actually enjoy playing the content in a relaxed manner, you have to rush through it, even if it's just a few seconds you save? 🤦‍♂️

Well. Since they did us dirty with mantras now i always have portal. And i teleport people wherever i can, even if its 1 meter away.

Skorvald doesn't start dashing for quite a long time. Even running without portal, with semi competent DPS would kill him before he uses first dash. Portals are 5-6 seconds save there, unless group is doing some weird speedrun strat. Only time, I can think portal making huge difference in pugs is saving breakbar on second island phase and using portal to break bar before Skorvald transforms.

Most groups struggle to burst him in high kp no healer groups. I want to see the group that can burst it without portal. You would have like 3sec to do it. Possible but insanely hard. Definitely not just competent dps.

It's important to one small group of pugs, that isn't even that popular in EU as of late. Got it. Portal is optional.
