Can we use Chain Pull in Open World?

Recommended Posts

Haven't tried the new meta yet (waiting for weekly game night where my son and I play together), but I understand it involves some use for siege damage. Of course, there's the EoD turtle.

But how about Warclaw Chain Pull as an additional option?

No. Warclaw is WvW exclusive mount.

Ah, shoot. I realize I wrote my OP extremely vaguely.

It was by nature of request. As in, "ArenaNet, can you make Chain Pull usable in the Open World?"

You can mount the Warclaw in the open world. It's just stupid slow. But if you could use Chain Pull in events, that would give WvW players a way to use what they've earned there in other game modes.

No thanks. The chain pull should stay in WvW. In Open World you have the turtle.

Does not have to be THE chain pull from WvW. We had a couple of similar mechanics that work similar and utilized the special action-key:
Soul Binders
Lassos
Pulling heavy objects

All three of these can work while being mounted. Soul Binders/Lassos could be used as an ammo-skill for Raptor, Jackal, Warclaw and the Turtle on the object. The pulling mechanic could be used to move some heavy siege, like a special jade-turret that provides boons or deals AoE damage. That way the WvW players would not lose their (temporary) useful ability and we could have something that looks similar but works differently in PvE.

I think this would be good. Adding versatility to existing mounts is always going to be superior in my view to adding increasingly-conflicting special action skills or developing new systems or filling the UI with additional mounts. 'It's a WvW mount' doesn't mean anything to me. Gliding was a Heart of Thorns PvE skill - you can glide in WvW (and practically everywhere else). Mounts at all were a PoF PvE feature - now you have a Warclaw.

As long as you still have to earn the Warclaw in WvW, it's serving its purpose. Open world chain pull would just be one more reason for people to go get it.

I wish they'd implement WvW in some way into PvE. Like the useless oil and arrow carts in Silverwastes, Bjora east meta, and the now-pointless siege weapons in Drizzlewood. If you got the mastery in WvW, copy the effect over the PvE.

Of course, that would require a dev team, and as we know, Anet is a small indie dev.

I wouldn’t mind if you could use chain pull in pve, but I know what would happen if this became a reality. It’ll be just another reason why open world only players will come to forums and cry about how warclaw is locked behind WvW, and then they’re gonna say ridiculous things like, “omg why is Anet FORCING us to play WvW?!?”

I like variety.

Then play variety of content to get a turtle and you won't need to push for wvw mount to become a pve mount.

Exactly! Go get it to use it in pve.

Personally, I think it's a stupid skill in WvW that people rarely use...but I do agree with you. The reason why I don't think it's a good idea to put into OW also, is that the skill comes at a cost of supplies every time you pull it.

So what would be the cost for using it in OW? I mean it shouldn't be better than using it in WvW. And besides, this map clearly wants to give the turtle mount more uses, so Anet will not want to mess with that goal.

In short: not happening.

Using chains and pulling down Mechanical Sentries from  the walls / Boulders from Cliffs /  pulling Stones from the ground   , to create a jumping path , after you soften them up with turtle/zerg ranged attacks , or lure the enemy boss near them to do it's aoe attack  .

Trying to block the path from a fleeing boss , from going near water or water filling the room and empowering him . Rotate  mirrors/rip apart ceasing-crystal fossils  by damaging or pulling them with Turtles and stun him .

Use three Turtles mid fight to rip apart  Bosses Armor Pieces , avoiding the need to kite him infront of  his own henchman line of firing  for more than one time .

Pull out chains and start spinning , allowing nearby players to be knocked-up in the air  use their Mount for a quick aoe escape / Using spell 1 for damage (if their mounts dies they go in downstate)
