At first I thought that Sleuthing a Solution was a timegate, that the chapter would continue after a few hours or something. But apparently this is all we're getting until the next chapter. Is this some sort of an out of season April Fools joke? ONE HOUR of story every few MONTHS? Even the earlier split maps like Drizzle or Björa had a full story arc and far more content... And to top it off, outside the "story" we have once per day Dragon's Stand with rewards that are worth less than the keys to get them?

Please someone tell me this is just a bad joke.

It wouldn't have been so underwhelming had there been a satisfying conclusion or progress made, like figuring out why the Void was back or meeting a villain. Once Rama carries you back to the surface and you finish the episode, the story hasn't progressed any further than when you first went down into the cave at the start of the epiaode.

I don't mind a cliffhanger as long as the plot builds. But we won't know if the plot is going to be build until we get more of it. By itself, I was underwhelmed in general. The zone is large, but there are things about it I don't like compared to Drizzlewood and Dragonfall, the two zones it most closely resembles.

Compate this to the first half of bjora marches. Pretty much the same outline, 1 story instance that the narative team can just smell their own farts. 1 instance with more fart smelling and 1 encounter, 1 instance the game starts remembering its an action mmo, and the episode is over. This also included my favorite time waster, fill the bar doing random stuff.

This is a year of work, remember. One hour per year of work is exceptional on Anet's part.

Who said that was a year of work? And since when the story part takes the whole work time?

When I finished the chapter, I stayed in the part called "Sleuthing a Solution" (where the new chapter will start).

I swear to you, I was looking through my friends list, guilds, if none of my friends were on this part of the story, I was like: "Wait, I must be doing this wrong!" And I kept looking in all the maps for the green story mission icon (while my email box was filling up, due to the black lion message bug) 🤣🤣🤣

One hour is enough considering all the players who claim they cant improve to play instanced content cause they have only 5 Minutes to play each week. They will be through the story when the new one gets released...

We've established a villain (the mind altering creature), and we have established stakes (a source of Jade that runs under a leyline, potentially solving Cantha's energy crisis).

Remember LS4?  Man, those were the days...

I feel like at this rate, Living story 4 will always be the "Glory days" of GW2 story writing. Nothing they have done since has come close to how well that entire story was put together. Its almost unfair to compare it to GW2 continued writing at this point even though its in the same game. Cause LW4 was just peak GW2.

Individual episodes of ls4 were fantastic (1, 2 and 4 with the blish finale), but as an overall arc it was a mess. From ending the plague arc early, to killing off Joko for laughs, to killing Aurene only to bring her back in seconds of the last episode (and thus removing any tension if you play back to back) and then the truly dismal finale. Ep3 was so bad I think it remains the only episode they apologised for. Ls4 stands so high for the few really good episodes and the excellent production values, but as a story arc it lacked tight cohesiveness trying to rush back to the dragons and fell apart. It tried to do too much.

So whilst ls4 had some strong moments amongst the inconsistencies, peak episode for me was Grothmar. That prologue nailed everything from atmosphere, to dialogue, to pacing - every beat of the story carefully worked out and then supported by exceptional map storytelling. This was I expected from the latest update, but we didn’t even get as much as Bjora part one.

You obviously paid too much for your free content.  You should request your $0.00 back.

Yeah, they should just draw a chicken loading screen for content and it’ll be totally fine cuz it’s “free.”… except most people will quit, servers will shut down and you will lose access to the service you already paid for.

No, you only paid for EoD.

And when you paid for that, you also paid for the releases between eod and the next expansion. If you have eod, you do not have to pay for this new part. Which was their point.

you can call them “free” and we only paid for eod if you want. But the new story parts are  included in eod and new players do not have to pay for them if they buy eod.

Anet stepped away from buying these living world parts between expansions if you don’t log in when they are released. So the person they quoted was wrong and they were right. We already paid for this content.

For me the peak of gw2 was hot in terms of story, maps and gameplay/mechanics. And i have to add that i hated the new specs because they outshined core classes by a mile. As much as it hurts me, i think eod will be my last purchase.

How many episodes did you pay for?  There was no guarantee.  You only assumed something more would be included.  Therefore, do did not pay for these.  These are free, and you are not entitled to this or any other episodes for purchasing EoD.
