For those affected, don't forget to set clocks ahead...

Oh, wow, I hadn't realized we were coming upon that this weekend. Thanks for the heads'-up! My poor night will have another hour of sleep stolen!

Even if you're not changing your clock you can still be affected. For example, here in Australia the time of both Guild missions and reset will change for me, even though I don't change my clocks for 3 weeks.

Really? I thought everything in GW2 was on UTC and therefore only change if you change timezone and/or DST.

Yeah. It is annoying. They should set the game's default clock to UTC to avoid their DST affecting all of us.

Nope. It is set in server time.

When their servers were still in US West Coast, it was set in PDT/PST. When they moved to Amazon, it's now set in EDT/EST (or is it CDT/CST). But, regardless, because the game is set in server time, all events are based on it, and then calculated accordingly to other timezones in the Wiki. Thus, the rest of the world is affected as well.

There are other global games with in-game events that rely on real-world time, to avoid confusion with the global players, they set their game to use UTC by default. Those with DST are the ones who should make the adjustment, not the game, not the rest of the world.

I was only ever affected when we in the EU change to/from DST, so it seems odd that somewhere else should be affected in other ways. That's why I was surprised.

The game's servers were never located in the West Coast.  They were in Texas, and now in Virginia.

The game is set to UTC, and thus why those affected by DST or other Daylight Saving Time zones find Daily resets and other resets move.

Daily reset is 00:00 UTC.  For West Coast it is now 5pm PDT; for East Coast it is now 8pm EDT and 7pm CDT.

Here's an example (Dev post) that shows how Daylight Saving Time changes when resets happen (because they are set to UTC).

Whatever they're set to, I've been doing this for years.  Australia, at least the state I'm in, also has daylight savings time, but we do the same thing the US does, spring ahead, fall back. It's just that our spring and fall are the opposite of those in the northern hemisphere. So it's spring here when it's fall in the US. One goes forward one goes back.

The other difference is we set our clocks 3 weeks after the US does. So there are 4 time periods every year I have to adjust too.

Reset itself is at either 10 am for more for 11 am for me, depending on the time of year. But the distance between guild mission time, which is 9pm EST for us, has been 2 hours after reset and soon it will go to one hour after reset. We have four different time differences, two of which only last three weeks.

The reason I know this is true, is because I've been jumping through that hoop for a whole lot of years.  My favorite time if year is ending and now everything will be earlier and I'll have less time between reset and guild events to get stuff done.

DST is a farce and should be ended. All the scientific evidence is that it’s terrible for our health. It’s only benefit is (possibly) economic, and that benefit is for those who already have.

That said, server reset doesn’t change with DST. I’m in Eastern time NA, and reset bounces back and forth between 7pm and 8pm. That’s my time changing, not the servers.
