What happend to Battlegrounds?

Not only we did not get any new WvW maps FOR YEARS, but sPvP is absolutely bare-bones.

Why doesn't WvW have proper map variety?  And what happened to sPvP 15v15 mode?

Where is WoW-like PvP experience? Why can't we get proper 2v2, 3v3 and BG ranked? Why not have Cantha inspired maps?

What is wrong with this company?

I couldn't agree more with this than I currently do. The fight it was just to get 2v2 and 3v3 intermittently added was unbelievable. The forums would have you believe that adding more to the game mode would have the negative impact of "further splitting the player base" instead of digesting the obvious reality that the player base is dwindling because we do not have these very basic and expected features available to us at all times in sPvP. The truth is, adding this would bring in more not drive away more. What drives people away is the absolutely abysmal choices given to us to either play solo or play with friends in a competitive environment how we see fit.

They are busy trying to figure out actual meaning of word "cornerstone" (PvP in general).

edit: just to clarify, I applaud them for trying different things and proving that MMOs can be done differently while still being successful/profitable, but the way they abandon content that could be improved or at least maintained to certain degree is something that is really jarring

A simple answer that you're not going to like, but is just the truth:

- PvP: Several thousand players (at most, 10k) , most of them in unranked (according to developer data from some years ago), the majority of ranked in bronze or silver, with gold and above have less than a fraction of this.

Most PvPer's have no need for gear, get decent looks from reward tracks, etc. already, and have no use for convenience items or gemshop items in general, especially stuff like bank storage expansions.

- PvE: Several hundred thousand players (600k was quoted a few years ago, but many  those are WvW-exclusive), all throwing money at gemshop items, buying Living World seasons and so on. The raid population alone, which is considered the smallest and least significant in PvE, likely exceeds that of all of PvP.

The WvW-exclusive accounts, which also far exceed PvP by an order of a magnitude, are also constantly spending on server transfers in order to stack for easy matchups, with a single guild buying up to 90k gems every few months assuming only 10% of their population needs to transfer.

Can you guess where the money is coming from in this scenario?

It's not even the bones at this point, it's just the marrow and ash.

Marketing BS.

mmopvp is done. MOBA, FPS is where it's at now. And even those are declining...

Nothing, actually. Business as usual.
