Chromium causing 20+ fps loss in bussy areas on Intel ARC

Recommended Posts

The Chromium "upgrade" is causing a huge fps loss on Intel Arc cards. It doesn't matter if the trading post is open or not. For example in the Royal Terrace I drop from 67+ fps to 44 fps. This was true the previous time Chromium was implemented and the problem was instantly fixed when it was disabled. Well now it is back.

Windows 11 Pro 10.0.22621 Build 22621

Intel Arc A750 driver: 31.0.101.4311

edit: using DXVK makes no difference at all

edit2: might be related to the Chromium OpenGL implementation

Came here to complain about a huge loss of resource efficiency too.
aka... the games a HOG! 😡

It's most pronounced at way points or anything adding to the environment.

Noticed CPU usage going way higher now while in META events like Dragon Storm.

I'm guessing 40% more resources now needed to play the game.
NOT GOOD!!!!! 😡

Please Dev's, lean the game out more.

Anyway you can try and run a different test, in your 60fps screenshot your camera appears to be more zoomed in, this will increase FPS. Where as your 40fps screenshot your camera appears to be more zoomed out, which will decrease performance.

I am seeing this debug file as well, with similar output but not really noticing a major difference in FPS gained/lost and cpu utilization seems roughly the same.  I am not using Intel ARC but a Nvidia 2070 (non super), so doesnt seem arc related and for me only dates back to 4/18.

Have you submitted a ticket with support? I'd be curious what their response would be and if currently this files output can just be ignored or not.

It has nothing to do with the camera zoom. I'm talking about Intel Arc and not about Nvidia. Intel Arc uses emulation when playing Dx11 games. The chromium framework uses OpenGL which also needs to be simulated. Seeing how there's a Vulkan dll file in the chromium folder anet is also wrapping the OpenGL code into Vulkan. So we're basically running a wrapped game with an embedded wrapper interface.

i have lag spikes too since this awful patch and many bugs blocked me to finish the opening of the 3rd expansion map

but unfortunately the lag and the bugs are the minor issues...

Log Keystrokes via polling means that if you type a password to a site or ebanking or a password manager it collects it!!!

this is the 1st result search engine brings back if you type on it log keystrokes via polling : https://attack.mitre.org/techniques/T1056/001/

also it is establishing connections to IPs that are not in arenanet's IP range if you do a whois to them (you can find them in the same virutotal link i posted ) and one of them is not even encrypted over 443 port but in plain text over port 80

also this CefHost.exe since it is based on chromium it carries all the vulnerabilities that chromium has and makes any computer is using it a potential target to hack it via this because chromium framework is full of exploits as you can see them all  the 16 together for 2023 here: https://www.debian.org/security/2023/

16 patches of many more vulnerabilities and many of them were .... remote execution code !

summarizing  if  they don't update this chromium framework libraries they are using  with cefhost.exe they put gw2 players at security risk and the creator of cefhost.exe is collecting keystrokes same time.

imo i blocked via the embedded firewall any connection input or output and i can't use TP anymore since this awful patch and i will never allow it make any internet connections
