Need advice for heavy class choice.

Greetings,

since i started GW2 years ago i played the most time on my necro. After i got a little bit bored with it i tried out an Mesmer. It was a blast but after the first hype i only like him in Groupcontent for Openworld/Story and Events hes not my thing.

So i'm now on the search for an other second mainchar for a little bit diversety. I want play a heavy amorclass. Played up Rev/Guard/Warrior to 80 and spend some time with em. I like them all so far, so i need some opinons in terms of long time playing this classes.

Here some points wich are important for me:

I'm mostly play on my own (For grouping i use mainly my Mesmer). If i need/want to group i want to play as an DD and not to be forced into pure support or something like this. I want to do 100% Map, open world and events most of the time. I want to play a powerbased spec. I play condi on my necro don't want to do this also on my second alt. Also the class should not to much faceroll anything at all. It should be a little bit more difficult than my necro but not as harsh as ingi/ele wich far to hard for me, get never into them.

Atm i'm really struggling between Guard/Rev. Guard seems to be good in any gamemode, while Rev seems more unique and offers an more interresting classmechanik on the first view. Warrior stands a little bit outside in my point of view, he doe's decent damage but already feels a little bit lackluster.

So what would be your advice in terms of long playing one of these class? Wich has the deeper class mechniks overall?

Ty for your answers.

Warrior gets a lot more interesting when you unlock the Berserker specialization because of how it elaborates on the core class mechanic. I've been maining Warrior my entire time through-out the years and I'm still in love with the class - at least for PvE. In PvP I feel extremely at the mercy of classes with stealth or teleport or any fancy stuff like that - which Warrior sorely lacks.

Revenant might seem a lot more interesting that Warrior on the surface, but I found myself wholly disappointed by the class because it has 0 utility skills. You only have those four(?) different stances with preset skills that you cannot customzie whatsoever. To me, that design feels like a gigantic leap backwards.

Rev has more mobility than guard, and you feel a bit like a water dancer. You weave through combat, and the herald is a lot of fun. But the guard is a true powerhouse. Guardian, like the Necro are the group stompers. They can slaughter large groups better than most. (ele contends in pve)

So with mounts coming, it's unclear how much revenant mobility will be valued to you. I prefer the theme of the class, but it's also been a little abandoned early in development. They never finished the underwater combat for rev, so while it's quite potent for dealing damage, there is zero build options under water. So any time you face a new situation you need to use shiro and malyx. Something require stability? Shiro and Malyx.... Hard escort mission and you want some healing? Shiro and Malyx....

Anyway on land, both professions are quite versatile. I suggest trying them out in heart of the mists. They haven't forgotten to try and balance the core class, and while it's still too weak, revenant core builds can be used now. (For a little while, I was solo roaming hard-mode wvw with a shiro/jalis core rev build; and it was fun for some moments, but straight weaker than herald)

Core guardian still sees some play, but not really in pve or pvp. DH has really shown to offer great damage while sustaining fairly well. The original support of core guard didn't survive well into the expansion, which is why firebrand was made, to give guards back some support.

Both are great, one a powerhouse, another a finesse fighter.

However, one thing to remember, outside maybe necro, no class gets countered as hard as rev. Revenant is vulnerable to conditions, in a way that will make you laugh. I once got hit with a single signet skill as I was phase traversing away form a necro. From full health, I slowly died. Right as I was escaping into some water, I switched to glint to heal back the damage, but as I entered the water, my skill bar went to shiro with malyx on cooldown. I died about 5 seconds later, and the necro caught up and finished me... Literally got stuck underwater in the wrong hero, and got hit with a single condi skill.... It's quite frustrating to play power rev vs condi, but if you are proactive with dodges and blocks it's doable. But if you get caught off guard, a single condi bomb and if you don't have glint, you're toast. (jalis can manage too)

Guardian is very versatile. Overall, it's probably the one class that I like the "feel" of most weapons with, even if some are mechanically weaker.

I wanted to love revenant more than I do. The combination of CDs plus energy costs on weapon skills have long been criticized and feels quite clunky to play in a way no other class has to deal with, especially compared to thief. It's also one class I really hated doing map completion in any zone that included water, because they suffer the worst from the unpleasant and half-baked land/water split.

Guardian is so boring i wonder if he's starting to give warrior a run for his money in that department.Go rev. He's got tons of different playstyles, roles and gear stats that make sense on him (especially after renegade lands). Not to mention far more fun traitlines and defensive plays (guard = blocks, if something is unblockable - start praying).

Guardian main, so may be biased. I've tried Rev but just couldn't get into it. I found the lack of flexibility in the utility skills very limiting. I prefer the ability to change 1 or 2 utilities depending on my offense/defense/QoL requirements instead of the whole set. Guardian also has a better ranged spec if you want to avoid melee.

My opinion may change with Renegade... I'll keep an open mind.

Only heavy class I enjoyed was Guard, it apeals to me asthetically (the whole blue theme going), they are good in all game modes and both of it's elite specs are fun to play.Warriors have always been the most basic and boring class for me, it's just a brute smashing stuff around in a frenzy, doesn't appeal to me in the slightest and Revenant although unique and interesting (for some) lacks in various aspects, keeping uptime of your magic pool or whatever it's called is an annoyance and the utility skills are directly linked to your current Legend which will almost always be Shiro and Glint/Razor, not enough diversity for me.
