The amount of bugs during the storyline is completely unacceptable

Hi I'm a returning player that's never posted here before. I logged into this forum just to say that I am absolutely disgusted with the amount of bugs I am encountering during the storyline. This is some low-quality stuff, Anet. Every single time I encounter one of these, a quick google search tells me this scenario has been bugged in this way for a LONG time.

I'm doing Aetherblade Retreat in Living World Season 1 where the end boss duo bugs. I'm just sitting here typing this because I'd need to re-do the entire scenario again to proceed. This is some kitten. This is not to even mention the repeated disconnects during story missions too.

I don't get it, how is the game this buggy? Do I need to play a game with a subscription so they can actually afford to fix their game?

Just following up because I made the mistake of playing the main story again. I was doing other stuff for a bit and enjoying myself but ultimately decided I needed to progress so I can unlock more stuff.

I was on Buried Insight in HoT, where you have to do a super long, terrible, just straight-up awful mission with escorting Taimi around bug city and I disconnected at the very end. I immediately long back in and of course, the entire mission starts from the very beginning with an unskippable cutscene. I've encountered other bugs leading up to this, but wow this one was the worst.

Think I'm pretty much done with this game. I'd like to play it, but I'm frankly embarrassed to be playing such an amateurish game. I can't justify spending time on this game when they have a complete lack of care in even their main story.

I agree Ozzie, It baffles me how the community/ Forums doesn't talk about the issues such as Bugs, Balancing , QoL (quality of life). All we do is a mere mention, we should  push on these agendas too put pressure on Anet too atleast give discourse about such topics on how they will get tackled. The Pvp community is negleteced beyond point (take a look at their forums) , there are still bugs that are the same since YEARS ago. Alot of QoL ideas have been posted with 0 interaction.

You expect us too still throw you money at the Gemstore and now buy some small DLC with no promise of looking into it. 

Shame really. 

This is also our fault since we just get distracted with eye candy items.

The disconnects are the reason I try to limit playing the story to one time and one time only. That they're still present now when they were in the game after launch is just staggering.

I am absolutely positive it's down to some bug with the idle disconnect code. I suspect that when you run a story instance solo, it runs locally on your PC and therefore after a long enough time, the main servers think you're idling and so disconnect you.

Yes, I made sure to google every single time a bug stopped my progress (mostly to check if there's a workaround), and every single time it was a known issue dating back years. I can't imagine it's a good look for new players.

I think you're spot on with the idle disconnect code. This mission was very long so maybe that's why I was disconnected at the end. Running locally is also probably why you can never rejoin your instance and it'll boot you back to the location before you entered.

If you get disconnects after coming out of a cutscene, check your setting for Content Streaming (F11 / first Options tab). I set mine to Max years ago and haven't had a disconnect in a story instance since.

I saw alot of this problem in my bug researching but luckily haven't came across it. My dcs are usually just in combat or something.

Forget about it, don't count on fixes for things like this. Let me give you another example - do the terms "Revenant" and "49/51" tell you anything? This is how the digital and graphical scales of the Revenant resource are displayed. If I'm not mistaken with the date, for about 8 years they cannot (or don't want to) fix this. I've only seen the correct display of this scale once in all this time. Know where? The game is good, it's just great, but you'll have to come to terms with bugs and the fact that they will never be fixed (unless it's a critical bug). Literally.
