afking in pvp

Real afk will get detected and be rewarded with dishonour.

But most players not actively participating you see have given up on the match for various reasons. They are probably still near their keyboards, maybe walking around a little to avoid AFK detection. Some players like to comment on the match, team composition, team members instead of playing.

Benefits are taking rank points without effort, avoiding dishonor for leaving the match and the psychological benefit of no longer investing in a match that they do not feel worth investing effort in and in some cases wanting to punish team members for not playing as the players likes.

In short, some players can't stand losing yet play a gametype that has roughly a 50% chance of losing.

That guy just said the truth, sadly.

The only way to get rid off that behaviour which tend to repeat themselves more and more is just doing a minimal moderation.

Use the banhammer on some afkers for 3 months and advertise it to the community to incentive everyone to play the game as it is intended.

One guy with a GM account can do the job in only one hour. It just takes a bit of willpower.

A more ambitious developer will program a fonctionnality to teleport every player outside the spawn after 10 seconds. At least afkers will be killable.

Wrong. The PVP population would reduce to about 10 at that point, lmao. Don't even try. Also, if someone went AFK on you, then you probably suuuuukkkkkk.

I dont know, it wasnt very good either way

You had to fully afk for 90 secs to get kicked

And these afk ppl were never really afk, 98% the time they there flaming ppl in chat and would just move once in a while to avoid being dced

Theres a lot of hate going from people with afk brains towards afk hands.

If I just purely press random buttons on my keyboard am I afk or not?

Afk is not about hands its about brain.

99% of ranked games has people in it with an afk brain. They can't tell you why they made a certain rotation or used a skill at a particular moment.

Of course people AFK in ranked.

There's  0 incentive for people to try when they could not try and still get progress towards certain leggies and get freebie pips towards reward chests. And its not like they can do that in unranked because unranked offers no kind of extra reward beyond reward tracks, which you already get in ranked already anyway

If there was some sort of consequence to their laziness, maybe then we'd see less in ranked. People giving up and people going afk from the start are two facets of the same stone. There would be a lot less of either if losing was LOSING and winning was WINNING with no freebie rewards to suggest anything to the contrary. This is the true nature of things. Ugliness and consequence are a guarantee in life, we only get to choose how that ugliness presents itself.

Do you want a challenging ranked mode that demands you win to be rewarded, or do you want the current ranked mode where effort is optional? Can't have your cake and eat it too, it's one or the other.
