PETITION: New Daily System Improvements and QoL

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm going straight to the point for the negative aspects of the new daily system:

1) randomized dailies for each account = prevents friends and guildmates from playing together (in an MMO!).

2) less choice of daily activities. Old system gave you choices! The new one FORCES you to complete the 3 random ones assigned to you regardless of game type choice, and if you get a bad one that you don't like, it feels more like a chore than gameplay.

3) The daily/weekly choice "gear" option is obnoxious, it forces players to plan ahead for a week ("do I go for PvE only, or PvE+WvW/PvP, or all of them??" ). At first login after the update it wasn't clear what was that for. I thought it was only to highlight my interests, instead I now find myself with PvP weeklies that I personally never enjoyed/done.

--------------------------------------------

So, I'm proposing the following improvements and/or upgrades to the current daily system:

1) increase the daily choice from 3 to 5 (or 6 may work better for those who choose all 3 gameplay modes pve+wvw+pvp)

2) Add a simple Tiered achievement so that only the first 3 dailies done contribute to Astral Acclaim rewards. Something like this: Tier 1: login (5 AA) - Tier 2: 1 daily completed (10 AA) - Tier 3: 1 daily completed (10 AA) - Tier 4: 1 daily completed (10 AA) -> final rewards. The achievement resets with the daily, at the usual time. People will get the same amount of daily AA (35) but with the freedom to choose something!

Edit: 2.1) OR restore partially the previous system's daily availability, let players choose which ones the like to do in whichever order and grant the standard 10 AA only to the first 3 completed (not counting the automatic login 5 AA). Turn the selection gear (pve/wvw/pvp) into a FILTERING choice. But don't reintroduce map-specific dailies (like the 4 events in low level maps, or bounty (1) in specific PoF map). Keep the dailies as GENERIC as possible, that'll give players a bit more of QoL and freedom.

3) Make so that at least 3 of the 6 dailies are shared among ALL players, the other 3 can be randomized.

4) Optional: to simplify things, remove the awkward selection system (PvE , WvW , PvP ) and just give 5 or 6 dailies for each branch. 3 fixed (rotating daily), 2 (or 3) random ones.

Added feedback: 1) The WvW Obsidian Sanctum JP daily is HORRIBLE for WvW purposes, either remove it, or switch it to the PvE section.

Don't think they're random, but players who choose different game modes will have different options from each other.  For instance, my spouse chose wvw and pve, I chose only pve, and we didn't share any daily achievements despite both having pve as one of our game mods.  Our weeklies are also very different on the same wavelength.

However, I compared my dailies/weeklies to someone on the far side of the world who also had pve only selected, and we had the exact same dailies/weeklies.

Generally, could really use clarification.

Yeah this part is utterly awful.  Fix this.

I like all of your solution suggestions.

I do think there has been a lot of 'change is bad' reactionary feedback, some of it selfishly motivated, to the new system, but op does a good job of highlighting some areas where there is opportunity for genuine improvement within the new system. Well done . . .

Agree with the negative aspects, but there is only one decision - roll back all changes and remove the new daily system. BTW, it is worth doing the same with the relics system.

Giving back all choices of the selected mode would be enough.
People who choose wvw and pve and people who choose only pve have tasks that overlap.

It is not random for everyone, just depends what you pick adn what expansions you have.
I wish they gave us more choices though, complete 4 from 6 or something like that would be cool.

Or maybe they could let us preview dailies from all modes or mixed modes (always only 4 as it is now) and we would have to pick one selection and complete those 4 from it every day? Still very far from great but better than how it is now atleast.

Maybe it's not random, but it feels kinda weird and confusing.

Why can't they just let us have 3 from each game mode like they used to? If it's Astral acclaim they are concerned about then only the first 3 you do plus the login award the currency and the chest. There is no reason to lock people out of dailies that others are doing.

Also a valid point. Restore the previous number of available daily ToDos and onlt the first 3 completed (plus the initial login one) will give you AA. One thing I like about some of the new dailies is that they removed those annoying "complete (4) events in [low level map]", instead they added some generic ones like "complete a Heart (anywhere)" or "loot 10 mobs (anywhere)".

Since ANET has stated that the development cycle of this new kind of expansions is way shorter, and the repeatedly stated that they wanted to avoid battle-pass-like or FOMO related gameplay, I'm partially optimistic that they are going to fix these issues.

Unless it was all just PR bs (claim X, do Y). ANET pleane don't turn into yet another big greedy gaming company, haven't you seen the amount of backlash the "notorious" ones are getting lately?

I only play GuildWars 2 online exactly because ANET's philosophy was different and more user-caring than any other mmos.

Agree with a lot of stuff - personally I'm happy except the nerf with the reward track potions. (Still need a thread where someone can get some numbers/comparison in detail - my guess is that the compensation won't make up for it ... for players that did their dailies regularly in PvP/WvW.) Spirit shards are also more limited. Needs adjustment. The gold find essence also. (Previously you could get more.)

Now ... giving more choices for dailies would not be a big deal if they really balanced it so the first 3 only gave astral acclaim.

The different dailies for each player thing ... is a bit weird. My guess is they also wanted to prevent people from camping the JPs with mesmers and porting others. Actually on a side note: To guilds also have same guild missions for every guild - each week? Or is this random as well. The choices thing is taken from the guild system where a similar system existed.

This should imo tier ... people that only want to do PvE should get harder stuff. If they want to do all 3 game modes - then easier stuff. Let's say if we make it 6 and you have to do 3 and you select only PvE ... then 2 easy, 2 medium, 2 hard ("hard" could just be content certain players might want to avoid ... a fractal or strike mabe). If you are willing to do all 3 game modes let it give you 2 easy ones from each. (But then also require to do 1 out of the 2 - for each ... to get your 3 out of 6.)

For selecting 2 out of the 3 options ... an easy/medium mix. For one of both 2 easy, 1 medium, for the other one 1 medium, 2 easy. Require to do 3 out of 6 and at least 1 from each game mode. (2 +1 or 1+2, not selecting PvE + PvP to avoid getting harder ones when selecting PvE only - then still only doing 3 PvE).

The selection should be the same. A table of 6 achievements (2 easy, 2 medium, 2 hard) each day for each game mode. People limiting themselves to one game mode should get all the 6 same offers. Similar people selecting all 3 game modes - the 2/2/2 easy selection. For the other 2 combinations of 2 game modes the same easy/medium mix for everyone though. That might work.

I like the JP on weekly though - tbh. Less crowded since not fixed to one day.

Agreeing on more choices.

Today i want to play PvE, tomorrow Wvw. But i want to decide it on the spot. And not because i have to.

this exactly, it wasn't clear when we started. So a warning message could be great. I was thinking it was to highlight my interests also.

There was a warning you apparently did not read said warning.
