ShadowCatz.8437
34 minutes ago, Raziel Dumas.9582 said: someone told me once you could Before the Mastery system we have today we had another system where you had to put points into your character's build with Skill Points (now changed to Hero Challenge where you get Hero Points). During some patches those where reset and you could also reset them if you bought a special item at Mystic Font NPC. So in part it is correct you could reset your build (as with today's system you don't need to reset where you put your points in trait lines). Mastery tracks where introduced during HoT expansion. https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hero_point (Read Trivia section in that link to get understanding how the old system worked before Mastery Tracks where introduced and Hero Panel changed with Build for Trait lines!) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2:_Heart_of_Thorns#The_Mastery_system Mastery Track as we have it today don't need to be reset and would cause real issue as it meant to give a progression tied to what is needed in each expansion (HoT are heavy depending on gliding and tools to get around that isn't on ground level vs Core which where designed with only ground based movement at that time; PoF added mounts which changed how to get around and also have mechanic tied to that which later expansion are expanding on like SoTO). If player could reset Mastery track which is based on region (where you gain XP for that track), then it would have to be re-designed system where you have Mastery points that aren't bound to where you get them (green = HoT= Mastery related to HoT skills and abilities). It would mean that where you get those points wouldn't matter, but you would still have issues with higher tier tracks where you need to unlock lower tier first, so in the end it would end up a mess with how today's system have been progressing. That is also the reason why SoTO (and EoD) now provide other means to get faster access to base mounts and some other expansion related abilities and still need to get player to want to finish up earlier expansion (or buy those) to get the full impact of what other players have progressively worked for over time. 2
