Roundtail Dragon very disappointing

I was absent for a bit, and on my return I found the Roundtail Dragon jade bot skin. It looked adorable with its animations in the preview, but after spending all my statuettes, I am for the first time deeply disappointed with something I have purchased in GW2. The thing does not have any of the animations shown in the preview, and instead just floats doing little, and what it does reminds me of Jabba the Hutt - in a rather disturbing manner with its tongue action >.>

Are there plans to still add some additional animation to the currently most expensive jade bot skin in the game? Refunds are not possible with skins added to the wardrobe, so this is a bitter waste on something not living up to its advertising. In all the years, I have never encountered this with GW2.

Hmm I remember the ghost jadebot preview, where it hangs down from the top of the screen.  At the time I wondered what would trigger that animation outside of the preview.

I have seen the ghosts phase through the ground when their owners are idle for a long time.

Does the round tail not have an animation for excessive idling?

It basically just floats in one spot, then makes a sort of small tantrum action and does a Jabba the Hutt tongue wiggle. None of it resembles the preview. The little ghost and the cat, I have seen animations resembling the preview, at least in part. The dragon does not seem to resemble the preview at all, and at least in my view, it is not cute but rather somewhat disturbing 😢

It is just very surprising for me. I never felt I had to be careful with GW2, I was quite trusting. This dragon mini I see as false advertising. Not something I would have expected from GW2.

That is sort of why I am asking if there are plans to add to the animations. I contacted support, and they said I shall post on the forums about it, in hopes developers might see it. After I saw the lacklustre animation of the dragon mini, I searched and it appears it had a sound bug to start, playing the original jade bot sounds. I think that was fixed, but I could not find anything about the animation, other than some being disappointed with it as well. I sort of don't think it is a bug. It has an animation, just not one matching the preview at all, which again, I see as false advertising. Then they should have shown in preview the animation it actually does have now. Do not sell something that the customer does not get. I know the ghost in preview pops out from above, facing upside down. I would not have assumed that to happen in the game, but some of the ghost mini preview is matched in game. The dragon is not matched at all, and I really hate that tongue thing it does >.<

As someone who made a ton of RP screenshots in the past, I can assure you: It has nothing to do with just one Miniature. Working with NPC's in this game is the worst in this game. Your Ranger pet runs around like a freaking moron and Miniatures stop their animations from time to time (restarting the game helps).

I have it, I loved it from the moment I saw it. Spent soooo many keys failing to get it before buying it from the statuette shop. I'm so happy he just hangs out over my head and does his little screech.

I didn't expect it to do all those animations, because I got the skin for the bot. What you have following you is the mini jade bot that's a mirror of your reskinned jade bot. And minis just kinda hang out near you, not really ever doing something fancy.

So I got the bot for the chonky boi dragon that he is. If you didn't like how he looks... Why did you get it?

The looks were part of why I bought it, and I am aware how minis work, but the game advertises an animation to go with it, which does not match in game. The other jade bot minis do, to a close enough degree, the dragon does not. Had I been shown the animation in the preview, I would not have purchased. Very glad to hear you are delighted, that is brilliant, I wish I was as delighted as you, seriously do. As said already, I am not used to being disappointed with a GW2 purchase. It is a very new feeling for me.

It is not necessarily a matter of skin or animation but rather skin and animation. Two aspects of the product, both showcased as part of the display. 

Would you be happy if the animations were correct but the skin was completely different from what you fell in love with the moment you saw it?

the animations are probably for when you do jade bot actions, like looting enemies, setting a waypoint, reviving yourself and so on? the miniature isn't your jade bot, its just made to look like it since players complained the skins were too expensive without being able to see them all the time.

I would accept that, were it not for that I have seen the ghost mini version idle with an animation pretty closely matching its preview, same goes for the cat, as far as I can tell. Now with the ghost I am certain that was the mini idling, with the cat, maybe someone performed a jadebot action, I have not seen it often enough. One time I saw it, where the player was clearly idling, the cat didn't do anything at all, but it could be the animation had bugged out, as a pervious poster explained it happens at times, no animation showing at all.

I remember the jadebot actions to be very fast passing and being tailored to what the jadebot is doing. I can not imagine that preview actions have much if anything to do with the jadebot performing a task, maybe someone can comment on whether their dragon is performing its preview actions during it actually being the jadebot?

Issue though remains that the ghost mini seems to idle close to its preview. The cat, from what I can tell, does too. Have not seen the fairy, but I somewhat think it will as well. The dragon would then break that consistency, and as a customer I rely on a company providing me with what is actually shown to me. If you buy an item in a shop, that shows you one thing on the box, then when you go home, you find something different, taking it from the wrapping, we all would agree that is not how it should be (even if some customers may not mind and would still be happy). Difference is that in the case of a shop, one usually can go back and return the item. In games, often we can not, so we doubly rely on a company providing us with a product as advertised to us. Imagine this would become a trend in the game, where you could never tell if you actually get the item as shown in a preview to you. I doubt anyone would find that a customer friendly way forward.

I thank Ashen for understanding the problem. I am not usually someone to complain. My account is a game launch account, I have been playing GW2 on and off since it's start, yet I think this is the first time ever that I have felt a need to come to the forums to highlight an issue, also as customer support advised me to do so. I felt (and still feel) very disappointed, and have through the years been a customer who has always financially supported the game, was always happy to do so, as I felt confidence as a GW2 customer. This has knocked my confidence some.

So really, this is to the development team - please ensure you sell the products as advertised. I would think and hope the dragon mini skin is an outlier, not great I got hit by it, but it most certainly should remain an outlier and not turn into the norm. It is bad business practice, all the more as there are no provisions made for customers to return an item, which does not match its advertising.
