[story] which faction has more impact longterm ?

Might be a silly question but between the Vigil, Priory and Whispers, which faction gets more actual impact overall in the game ?

I have tried Whispers long long ago and outside of a cool charr friend and very few « secret » shortcuts/rooms, they didn’t have much going for them.

I did read that the vigil gets more interactions with their leader appearing frequently in the storyline (outside of vanilla).

Since I play warrior, I’m inclined to go with Vigil but I wanted to get some opinions about those groups.

Whispers have a lot of NPCs scattered around that are part of the group, but you don't know that they're part of the group unless you are in the order and activate the correct dialogue option. Storywise, Whispers have connections to the Order of Shadows which have a role to play in PoF and LS4

The others have their own ambient dialogues and the Vigil also gets a prominent appearance in the early-mid parts of Icebrood Saga

The Priory's "special guest" also appears often in the story and has an extra instanced section to their HQ (which anyone can access later anyway)

 

To be honest, there's not a lot of differences. They do each have exclusive backpacks and hey each have their own sets of other gear like weapons, but I'm not sure if it matters if you are in the Order or not. They all make appearances in the game with the Priory and Vigil leaders getting the most screen time.

Basically go with the one you like the sound of. The only have any actual effect on how the story unfolds for the first part of the personal story, after that it's all ambient dialogue. It makes no actual difference otherwise

Orders become irrelevant once you form the pact and the Pact itself becomes irrelevant once you finish the vanilla game. Furthermore, people of your order will never recognize you as a member, only acknowledging you as the "commander", which in turn, becomes a generic name with no meaning at all...

The sheer amount of times we go back to durmand priory is crazy.

Greatest impact to me personally (most fun) was female Sylvari doing full Order of Whispers. The voice actress for female Sylvari is by far the best of all the voice actors. She's the best at putting emotion into the lines of the player character. You have to hear her delivery of  lines like "... But the oozes! The ooooozes... and the Dredge!" during the quest to reclaim Caladbolg, or "Oh so there was a plan after all, besides getting me sloshed I mean." when you get drunk and rescue Demmi Beetlestone from pirates. No other voice actor in this game could have pulled that off. I mean have you heard a female sylvari Berserker shouting "I'LL DESTROY YOU ALL!" when activating berserk mode? She's the only one that makes it believable. The rest are just not as convincing.
