Warrior Greatsword Needs Reworks/Updates. It's a Sad 2012 Leftover Weapon!

Guardian GS got updates, Ranger a long time ago also. Nowadays they're both super stacked weapons that do a lot in one kit. Look at Ranger: it's Maul gives its pet its next attack +25% dmg, it's great damage alone, and it puts 5 stacks of vulnerability on the targets. Hell, it's 5 targets also instead of the measly 3 that Hundred Blades has. Why?? Wouldn't giving HB at least 5 targets make sense due to it being immobile? Add on top of this that GS for Ranger has block, mobility, a stun (which resets Maul's cd), and even extra cc with counterattack kick. 

Now look at Warrior GS and see how 2012 this weapon looks! HB is immobile and only three targets, even in PvE this is super tedious to pull off. Rush is janky af and never seems to land properly. Bladetrail is a sad joke of a skill. Seriously, this is like a leftover idea from the beta or something that never got the love it needed. It only does dmg and cripples in a boomerang fashion. There's no pull on the return journey of the blade, there's no interesting effect other than damage and cripple. It's sad and needs love desperately. Whirlwind attack is the only justified skill but even here it could use small tweaks in damage to make it more justifiable.

 

Whirling Wrath on Guardian is mobile AND does great damage, oh and 5 targets also cuz why not;) And with more recent GS Guard reworks Warrior's GS is absolutely left in the dust as far as being a viable weapon. Please Anet, update and fix this weapon for the new decade! We're not in 2012 anymore, thank you.

Not to mention that Maul is 220 range compared to 100B being 130...

Here is one thing I'd like to see on Warrior. Lore wise even warriors use magic to empower their attacks, why not build on that with warriors striking so hard that their attacks reach beyond the length of their weapon. That isn't an uncommon idea in games and anime. Give the Warrior melee weapons at least 220 range on their melee attacks. 

As to GS specifically:

100B: 5 targets, 240 range, 2s-2.5s cast time.
Bladetrail: Bounces off of terrain. Crippled foes take 25% more damage.
Rush: Fix the jank, make it travel twice as fast, and strike in a 240 range AoE at the end of the charge. Putting a copy of the rev GS version but with 1200 range essentially.

Being unaware or unwilling to fix clunky melee profession weapons but knowing and being entertained by the fact they suck to use is fire wizard behavior.

i'd like rush to give maybe 1 stack of stab for 5 sec baseline, gs 4 to be unblockable (otherwise a single slow moving projectile with a huge cast time will never be useful) and gs 2 what other people already suggested.

Even better, make the projectile on bladetrail not hug the ground and be a pull. Manually aim that to the top of the wall in WvW and yoink people down into a 100B. 👨‍🍳😚

The pull suggestion is great. They also could add a 2nd Rush skill which makes your character sprint forward to catch the returning blade. It could be another gap closer.

But what I do like about bladetrail is that I can throw it over the wall in WvW and hit people at the bottom lol.

Now, for the real reason I think anet won't look at warrior GS is because we all still use it. The reason they changed hammer and added CC traits was because we all collectively stopped using the weapon since it became a boring and silly weapon that didn't do damage. The silliest thing they did to try and get warrior hammer going again with was to put more damage into hammer 2 and 3, but the weapon was still unfun and lame. Luckily, they added the traits and returned earthshaker's damage.

I think they'll only respond to lack of use and what appears on their charts and measurements.

Yeah...that hurt to hear. Also fairly irritating because its like...if they know its scuffed and they want to avoid things like that happening with other skills... then fix it. Could at least say something about "Yeah we know its a mess on this skill so we wanted to avoid it on X skills for X class, but we'll look to revisit it later and fix it."

But naw...11 years, Rush still borked.

GS3 is fine, its probably one of the most useful skills on GS in competitive. Mobility with an evade on a short CD.
