Can someone explain how cumulative AP points work - for a festival achiev

Recommended Posts

So, I've been playing GW2 for a long time now, but I still cannot comprehend how this works... Pls don't lament how stupid I seem to appear or anything like this, ok? I just need a clear explanation what is the idea behind showing us the points for achievements like this. It's completely confusing for me.  As an example I use achievement Lunatic Inquisition Regular for Halloween Rituals:

It shows u need to participate in 3 rounds to complete the achievement and it shows you get 25 points total. Total for what? Probably not for three rounds since the point breakdown shows +5 points. So we get 5 points for 3 rounds?(idk) What is the 25 points for then?

thank you for your help if anyone decides to explain this in some simple way😩

As an example

The Clocktower. Do the Clocktower 3 times (timed version) at any point and get 5 AP. It then resets. Do it another 3 times and get another 5 AP for a running total of 10 AP. And so forth

Basically every 3 completions gets 5AP up to a maximum of a lifetime cap of 25 AP. Once you get a running tally of 25 AP you can't get more from that achievement

That means you need to complete the clocktower 15 times to get the limit of 25AP. After that, you get the rewards but never any more points.

Make sense?

Remember that you can hover (with the mouse cursor) above both the tiers and the points on many achievements and see the breakdown. Say, "Clocktower Champion" again as example... it's infinite 1/3, so every time you've done it 3 times you've completed one iteration. And then you can see from the +25 AP when you hover on it that you get 5 AP each iteration. So after 5 iterations (e.g. do clock tower 15 times, 3 * 5) you will have got max AP achieveable from this.

thank you, but are the  points resetting every festival or is it a forever max AP you cannot cross?

See the screenshot posted above:

Left of the / you find the AP you have already accumulated by repeating the achievement, right of the / you will find the maximum AP that can be accumulated by repeating the achievement.

Once the maximum has been reached, you will not receive any more AP by repeating the achievement.

Annual Festival AP were introduced only a couple of years ago, so no one has them max'd out yet. They work in the same way as described before (you can complete them only once per year, and the AP you receive for doing so are added to the maximum AP pool for that achievement).

The confused reaction is just too ambiguous and meaningless, it should really go... just watch this post get it 😁

Would've been better with a simple upvote/downvote reaction to see how many like/agree, or dislike/disagree with a post.

No because downvote was to toxic for the forums apparently.

So instead we get the confused reaction being abused as thinly veiled toxicity... 😉

Exactly this. Nine times out of ten, confused react is "I hate what you said, I hate you, and I hate everything you stand for", the rest of the time it's either being used ironically or for genuine confusion.
