Graceful Mantra.4691 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 So I just updated to latest patch and my staves, rifles and scepters are no longer equipping to older and newer Thief characters. I was worried that it would affect my other characters, and thankfully the update didn't affect my necromancer. Still scared to try my ranger or others, but am confirming with others if they are experiencing similar issues? 2
NIGHTHUNTER.5139 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I can use all the weapons on my thief without issues... all equippable legendary weapons show up when I select a weaponslot, so it might not affect everyone. 1
Graceful Mantra.4691 Posted November 7, 2023 Author Posted November 7, 2023 I noticed it didnt seem to affect my level 80s but anything lower for some reason it just refused to equip anything i didnt start with before Weaponmaster. Definitely hope it isnt widespread 2
Tinker.7046 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 (edited) Can't say if its wide spread, but quite a few people in the main chat, were commenting on this issue. I hope they figure it out soon, as this was one of the main reasons I purchased SOTO. edit2: I also noticed that all my characters below lvl 80 have all their mastery tracks locked out. Even core Tyria.. Which explains why the weaponmastery achievement from SOTO, doesn't do anything (smh) Edited November 7, 2023 by Tinker.7046 corrections 1
Kryss.5298 Posted November 7, 2023 Posted November 7, 2023 I can confirm it does not work on any character that is below the level of 80. The items still say they should work. This sucks, I unequipped a nice bow(for my level) on my guardian and couldn't reequip it. If this is by design please add it to patch notes. 2

Definitely hope it isnt widespread If your character is not lvl 80, he has no access to specialisations and I think therefore you also don't have access to the weaponmaster feature. I don't know if that is intended, but it's likely to be the reason for your issue. 1
Graceful Mantra.4691 Posted November 8, 2023 Author Posted November 8, 2023 (edited) id have agreed if that was the way weaponmaster was working before the patch. I was capable of using elite weapons across all characters immediately upon activating Weaponmaster with a level 80. Access to Elite specializations didn't affect it, and it's how i discovered that Guardian Axe skill 1 didn't work back then without Firebrand. If this is how it was actually intended I must've missed the notes for that. I'm hoping its not. Edit: all new characters are barred from elite weapon usage on my end. All we can do now is wait and see. *fingers crossed* Edited November 8, 2023 by Graceful Mantra.4691 update 1
Eldarion.4189 Posted November 10, 2023 Posted November 10, 2023 The whole reason to unlock the Weaponmaster Traning is to have access to the elite specialization weapons below lvl80, fressh lvl80, who didn't unlock any elite spec yet, or while using other specs, like Scourge using pistol. The official forum patch note back in August says it. Weaponmaster Training Early in the Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure story, players will gain access to ancient knowledge preserved by a weaponmaster long ago. Weaponmaster Training allows players to equip weapons that were previously only usable by their profession's elite specializations, opening up many more options for your character's combat style. The GW2 wiki has even more detailed info. The player will receive a letter in the mail from Frode early on in the third chapter of Secrets of the Obscure story, Mother of Stars. Speak with Frode in the Beacon of Ages Command Center to unlock Weaponmaster Training account-wide. Beyond requiring at least one level 80 character to unlock the feature via the story, it's not otherwise level-restricted and can be used afterwards on characters below level 80 as well. So this must be a bug. But if it's not, they should've mentioned it in the Patch Notes. 2
