Long(er) Start Up Times

Recommended Posts

Ive noticed since the recent update, it is taking GW2 17-seconds to start up (load the character select screen).  Normally, on my PC, its just a few seconds. I'm not having loading issues anywhere else in the game. I've been playing GW2 on this PC for two years now.

My PC for general reference:

i5 12600k

RTX 3060TI

32GB RAM

Samsung 1TB NVME

I've noticed that every time I load into the game for the first time since the PC has been turned on it usually takes longer. Especially loading the UI.
However SOTO maps are much worse in terms of loading. No matter what they always take so long to load and they run pretty bad too. Especially Amnytas and Wizard's Tower.

Yesterday's update added a feature that allows users to change the background on the character select screen. Did you randomize it?

I have not changed the setting yet. Does randomizing help?

I don't know if it helps.  What I'm saying is there was a change specifically to graphics and the character select screen.  I'm wondering if there's additional load time because of that change.

You could try deleting the gw2cache to attempt to clear out whatever may be the "cruft" related to the change.

There was a new build released last night and that seems to have solved the issue for me. Thanks!
