Relic of Ice nerf - when?

Just as the title says. Kinda boring getting oneshotted by Whiteside Ridge cheesers - particularly thieves and willbenders. It hits 3 x 3-4k. That is overpowered, no other equipment in the game provides as much instant damage.

Can't nerf any of those until they visit celestial, and minstrel.

The average celestial elementalist (a class with 11k base health) loses about 20% of its health when a spinal shiver strikes and removes 3 boons. And that's the most impactfull skill a necro (which people say "naturally counters" ele) brings to the table.

Why do you want to nerf it? Is the fight duration of your celestial encounters too short?

Not even talking about zerging here. The skill looks even more pathetic against all that damage reduction.

Tip: Don't play full zerk in wvw!

Regarding overheat: Last week I have eaten a 28k overheat from an engi out of a 5 player smallscale group. I was in full ascended marauder gear and instantly downed. This would never happen with spinal shivers. Celestial gear would have reduced that hit to about 20k.

I hit pretty regularly with spinal shivers for 6-10k.

Run full celestial/minstrel boon spamming cheese builds like boonball loving Anet wants you to? Or how about simply dodge the burst and "one shot" them back with a power build?

You want to dodge something that can delete 20k+ hp in full minstrels in less than 1s?

Maybe because Anet's plan was to tone down damage through lowering modifiers with single hits to have cap at 2.0. Vast majority of skills got this treatment and it is obvious they forgot some skills. There was a reason why they nerfed all those modifiers in the first place. And, in case it is not clear, I agree with celestial nerf and that using full berserker gear should be punishing if played recklessly. But why pretending that having higher than 2.0 modifier is ok because e.g. current cele meta can mitigate the damage so much?

You wanna dodge something that comes out of stealth and does that in less than 1s? Enemy model won't even show on your monitor. You guys have too idealistic fights in this game.

Yeah well you can’t dodge any wombo combo coming from stealth. In this particular scenario, stealth is the problem.

there are, no doubt, situations where you just sit there and take it to the face like a good boi.

For example, i heard willys like this relic somewhere. They are not coming from stealth. You would try to dodge that wouldn’t you?

It now hits only the intended target for only the intended amount.

Because it can scale to multiple targets, previously you could use positioning to hit a single target with the icicles intended for other nearby enemies, basically stacking the damage. The patch is supposed to address this so that the icicles will only hit the intended targets.
