Does anyone know some more specifics on the upcoming legendary spear mats (rift essences)

So I've saved up a lot of rift essences to the point where my mat storage (2500) can't hold them anymore. I did this because I knew that they are required for the legendary spear that's coming out in the next quarterly update. 

But it's getting kind of ridiculous because I have half a bank tab full of them now and still not sure what they will be needed for. So my question is if anyone knows if they will have to be used for Amalgamated Rift Essences or if it'll be something else? I'm kind of loathe to make them at 50 ectos each, only to find out I'm stuck with those Amalgamated Essences that I can't use for anything else.

Nobody knows right now.

What you can do if you have SotO (I assume you do if you already have that many essences) is trade the rift essences for random loot at Gharr Leadclaw.  Helps out with your storage issues for the excess material.

Considering the amalgamated kryptis essence was renamed to amalgamated rift essence.. and all the heart npcs have an exchange for it. I'd say the chance is rather high that the leggy spear will be using those as well.

Yeah I saw that. I'll have to risk it then because it's just talking too much space up in my bank. Pretty much a full tab with essences + what's in my material storage (2750). Just keep running out of ectos but that's on me. I think I'm done crafting legendaries 'til the new spear comes out (well if I like the skin of course). That's the thing, I might not like it and then I've put 100s of ectos in those account bound mats. Oh well, luckily it's just a game lol

And yes, I do have SoTO, so that trader might be a good idea indeed

Personally for me it won't really matter if the skin looks great or not. It would certainly be a plus. But I definitely want a leggy spear (probably the best value legendary weapon since there's no other weapon every single class can use) and really don't like the shark spear. And I kinda prefer the SotO way of making legendaries with essences n stuff, feels more like a 'farm it yourself' thing than just invest gold until you have all the mats.

I heard a streamer mention that the collection for the legendary spear was accidentally leaked ingame at some point, but haven't looked it up yet. Maybe you'll find something about that?

Swords can be used by every profession too.  Necromancer was the last without and they got it in SotO.
