Hello Friends!

I need you to help me understand skill differences and damage calculations.
While the first part is a bit about lamenting why Eternity's Requiem is just way worse than Spearmarshal's Support (Warrior spear 4) and Solar Storm* (Guardian spear 4) in a PvP point of view, I would like to get a confirmation whether or not I have deciphering Eternity's Requiem damage correctly and is it bugged or not.

First part: Comparison
While I know raw damage data is not everything (one should factor in boons and usability, etc.), we can still make a skill comparison between the three skills mentioned in the title. (And of course I know that not every skill is the same and is fine like that, but when one skill is clearly inferior to others, i think a change is warranted.)

According the raw data, Eternity's Requiem is lagging behind in every aspect (dmg, range, activation time, cd, bonus effect and I did not even mention its energy cost) or should i say Spearmarshal's Support and even Solar Storm is way overtuned compared to ER.  (Yes i know i only calculated with only 5 hit, but the max 9 hit is just a myth in PvP in my opinion.)

** according to wiki note, the coefficient is 1,82

I hope a proper tuning is coming soon.

Second part: Potential bug

I have checked Eternity's Requiem damage on PvP golem and it was as follows (all crit):

  damage
1st 1875
2nd 1125
3rd 375
4th 187
5th 187
total 3687

If the damage calculated like this:

A)

  • 1st hit: 100%
  • 2nd hit: 100%-45%=55%
  • 3rd hit: 100%-2*45%=10%--->11% (the minimum damage is 11%, so after 3rd hit it should always be 11%)
  • 4th hit: 11%
  • 5th hit: 11%

If the damage calculated like this:

B)

  • 1st hit: 100%
  • 2nd hit: 100%-(100%*0,45)=55%
  • 3rd hit: 55%-(55%*0,45)=30,25%
  • 4th hit: 30,25%-(30,25%*0,45)=16,34%
  • 5th hit: 16,34%-(16,34%*0,45)=9,15%--->11% (the minimum damage is 11%, so after 3rd hit it should always be 11%)

C)
So far it seem like something else, hence the potential bug.

You can't compare abilities from different professions 1 to 1 in a vacuum. I'm not saying there aren't major balance issues, but plucking out specific abilities to compare numbers is simply not useful.
