jasepo.1527
This expansion is a massive improvement over SOTO in terms of narrative. It's actually engaging and very interesting... Makes me wonder why Inner Nayos arc ended up so... I don't have actually have a word to describe how terrible it was. I hated the story, hated the map. While you were on the last map, the meta was happening and it's actually a Spoiler... I haven't finished yet, jumped right to Janthir. Kudos to whatever red pill you took that make you to craft such amazing expansion. DON'T REST ON YOUR LAURELS!
Cronospere.8143
I think soto started fine. But the kryptis realm was really (as it should be actually) bloody and fleshy. Fitting the theme it wasnt suppose to be enjoyable imo. The last map set how we remember that expansion. Icebrood saga started out with an amazing map also. Drizzlewood was also amazing. And ended extremely dissapointing with the DRM, since these DRM the IBS was not enjoyable overall. Lets wait until the last map comes out.. 2

Flowersunshine.7385
Took me a loooooong time to figure out that most of the narrative in SotO was the little quests that the kryptis NPCs gave in the second part of the map. I did appreciate those. Also feels like SotO was trying a bit too hard to get the 'don't judge a book by its cover' message across. (I mean, I appreciate the message, but it was a bit too much in the nose to really 'vibe' with me, ya know?) But yeah, I also experience JaW as an absolute step up. Unfortunately the game heavily relies on the achievement system for side-stories, so without something more like a traditional quest log, like a "side-story jounal", you can never repeat those. The only way to replay those in 10 years when you are feeling nostalgic will be to buy a new account.

Ah man, that sucks.

Wished there was more of those.

I love that you can replay it, but keeping track of it can be a bit of a pain, even to players like me used to old-school games without quest log where you have to keep track of stuff yourself. I still play Ultima VII again every time Exult pushes a new version.

Lets wait until the last map comes out.. Just ignore inner Nayos, it is unnecessary altogether, since you killed Cerus and pushed back the invasion of Amnytas. That is the end of the Kryptis threat. Just replace Inner Nayos with a footnote. "Without Cerus, and the loss of the army he lead in Amnytas, Eparch, was soon discovered to be a paper tiger that was easily dispatched". I can't say the same about Janthir, they kind of decided to split the story up and just leave it hanging to complete in the future releases. If the future releases suck, you can't really separate the current story from it. So, yeah, we will have to wait for an actual conclusion to see how it lands.
