Jumpin Lumpix.6108
So if you go to the wardrobe or simply look at the item description for the whispering serpent pauldrons it says that they are "Obtained from either prepurchasing Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds or from the digital deluxe upgrade." One of the reasons I upgraded to the deluxe edition was to get these pauldrons as I did not pre-order the game. So i upgraded and didn't get them. I asked support why have I not received them, and they said that they are a pre-order item only and that the text indicating "either" "or" was a "bug" and that I dont get them. This is incredibly misleading and I feel like I've been duped. Any idea if this is going to be fixed and pauldrons sent out, because maybe the support agent was incorrect as the text In game clearly shows I should have these? skin link - [&CtwvAAA=]
Eloc Freidon.5692
They didn't make the SotO hat limited time, did they? I don't think calling false advertising a bug holds up legally. 2

I can't see the deluxe upgrade in the shop, but at least on the website the shoulders aren't listed as part of the deluxe update. So if the error only exists in the wardrobe and it's not listest in the shop (the wiki e.g. lists it as pre-order only), I don't know, if you can really call the false advertising or just an error. If the OP hasn't used the other items from the package, maybe the support can offer a refund, if it was really only bought for the skin. 2

It's not just the wardrobe it's also in the item description itself when you link the skin. Edited September 2 by Jumpin Lumpix.6108

Also equating text to a bug would be the equivalent of a typo in text, not a complete sentence that clearly Indicates how something can be obtained in a different manner using both the words "or" and "either" thus doubling down on the intent of the statement. Ashen.2907
This is not a bug and does constitute false advertising in most US states (I say most because I am not familiar with Hawaii's rules on the matter but generally states adopt the same rules for this). In order for this to be considered merely a mistake there would need to be a disclaimer placed immediately upon the company having the mistake brought to their attention and the mistake would need to be fixed, immediately. In either case the customer who brought the matter to their attention would need to receive the advertised deal. A company cannot falsely describe their product/pricing and just claim that said claims are errors in order to avoid liability.
IAmNotMatthew.1058
The shoulders are the same idea as the Arcane hat was from Soto or the Mosaic cape from EoD, it's not included in any of the package tiers by iself, the same way those aren't either and thus only available for those who preordered. Anet most likely messed up and added it to the description of the shoulder skin.
Cyninja.2954
The in-game item description is indeed poorly worded. It states:"Obtained from either prepurchasing Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds or from the digital deluxe upgrade." It should read:"Obtained from either prepurchasing Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds or the digital deluxe upgrade." Knowing this is a prepurchase reward it is pretty clear that the wording is meant to indicate that it becomes available via preuprchasing either the base version or the digital deluxe version and the "from" dilutes the wording. In all other media this seems to be correctly phrased though so some research would have prevented one from misunderstanding. Still the wording needs clarification in-game. 3
Sobx.1758
The item description is misleading, true. But when you check the deluxe upgrade in the ingame store, the skin isn't listed there so I wouldn't expect getting it based on the ingame description in a different place than the store itself (in this case, description of the item). Still weird. 🤷♂️
deadlift.7681
If Anet's intention is that it's only available from the prepurchase, why even add the "digital deluxe upgrade" part? It doesn't make sense - if you bought any version of the game prior to the release, you received the shoulder skin, there's no reason to tag the digital upgrade. It's not like I prepurchased the expansion, then wanted the skin, then bought the upgrade (I already had the skin). Adding the "digital deluxe upgrade" part implies getting the skin after the release.
