Skary.8956
Lets get ENG to 2024 with an updated, modern toolkit to handle the persistent challenges of mobility, survival, and CC creep. However, based on the forthcoming October 8th update, the development team seems to have lost the plot completely. Rather than focusing on minuscule adjustments—a 0.025% value tweak, for instance—I suggest the following: 1) A weapon swap should equip a preselected kit for example Granade Kit. 2) The profession's 6th skill should be the toolbelt skill associated with the equipped kit. These changes would aid all three Elite Specs. Here are the details: Allow the addition of a preselected kit in place of a weapon swap. This would free up an additional utility slot, enhancing the overall survivability. For example, I could run Hammer with my weapons swap being the Grenade Kit. Subsequently, Grenade Barrage would be the 6th profession skill, similar to "Untamed Unleash." This setup would provide me with an extra slot to improve survivability (Elixir S) because, as of 2024, the Scrapper possesses minimal access to stability and only a single stun break. Seasoned players are acutely aware that 99% of the Engineer builds are made out of paper. Once, there was a decent Holo build, but for some unfathomable reason, it was nerfed and now lies in a pitiable state. The Mech is underwhelming compared to Untamed pets due to the lackluster abilities it offers in exchange for your toolbelt skills, and its AI is outdated is as bad as the AI in Star Wars Outlaws. Scrapper's most optimized and reliable build remains noticeably inferior to SPB (even post-nerf), Necro, Willbender, and even Herald. It relies heavily on a single, 75-second combo that doesn't fool seasoned players due to its predictability. Even landing this perfect combo out of stealth is often unsuccessful, as an instant blink or single stun break, present in most classes, can render the entire mechanic worthless. Despite extensive theory crafting, I'm unsure if any minor number tweaks could rectify the issue. Considering the infrequency of updates—roughly every six months—it would take about four updates (or two years) to elevate the Engineer to where it should be, given they're heading in the correct direction. While many Socially Awkward people in this forum might spam the confused emote because they are miserable IRL, I must state that I profoundly appreciate the combat system in this game. I firmly believe it is the best in class, surpassing all other MMOs. It's just unfortunate that the BIS combat is attached to the worst Balance Team Edited September 17 by Skary.8956 5
Voegelin.5642
I think engineer should be given weapon swap, period. Being able to swap to kits would help as well (basically add a stun break/defensive for those running nades now - or give grenades as an option to those not). Holo/engineer definitely needs help in PvP. 1

In an act of desperation I’m running Improved AED(improved gadgets trait) which is quite underrated but the sacrafice is no quickness 😂 Edited September 18 by Skary.8956

I don't think adding a second weapon could be done without a lot of other changes but I like this idea to swap to a kit. Maybe it could work if the elite tool belt F5 changes to the kit's tool belt skill when swapped. Holo would have to swap out of the kit to Engage Photon Forge and would not be allowed to swap to the kit until Deactivate Photon Forge is used or overheating. Now, would that be considered a 'huge buff' to engi though? 🤔
HardStuckBronze.2439
I’m all for engi having a weapon swap. I’m also excited to see the ele mains come out in force asking for the same treatment if this goes through. Granted you will need the hands of a master pianist or to be born with extra digits to pull it off but would be fun to watch.

Imagine getting jumped by multiple people trying to kill you, then I'd be using obsidian flesh to invuln, turn around while swapping to dagger/dagger and switching to air attunement, and then just zooming the frick away XD would be a bit too op. ... Now that I think about it, kinda sounds like willbender
