So the eol of win 10 is fast approaching next year, I have several pcs that have gw2 installed one of them is my trusty old win 10. I am not going to replace the hardware so I am migrating to linux. One of the issues with GW2 is it dont play well with most linux at least i havent found one , the other issue is people on win 10 that cant upgrade hardware or buy a new pc will be running an unsecure unsupported machine if they dont switch. Can arenanet think about allowing our pc accounts to port to steamdeck? People are heavily invested in their accounts and not going to lose them to make new ones. Other than that I dont know any way for 10 pcs to be safe and workable after the 2025 eol for support and security. I am looking to migrate but cant find a distro that works for me and my apps.

Might wanna check this out:

My personal experience? I've played GW2 without Steam on Wine with and without Lutris. I just prefer Lutris since it's easy for me to setup the client. I didn't even have to actually reinstall the client and redownload everything. I had my client from Windows and easily switched it over using Lutris. I've played GW2 on both Debian and now on openSUSE! Some issues can be easily rectified by changing which version of WINE you want to use for GW2. I had an issue where the cursor kept not being to interact with the UI randomly and I had to alt-tab to fix it. My permanent fix was simply using an older version of WINE. Now, no issues whatsoever. Performance is also about the same as it is on Windows thanks to DXVK, which helps a lot. Lutris has this feature easy to toggle  if you really wanted to. Still, that thread is good for us Linux gamers that need help every once in a while since we don't have a native client.

Windows 7 x64 is still being supported by Guild Wars 2 and, if you know the right hack, with MS monthly security updates. (Until 2026)

So I would not worry too much about Windows 10 being unsupported by either Guild Wars 2 or MS security updates.

I dont plan to upgrade my os no matter what, im buying new intel machine and im putting win10 pro on it, microsoft can only dream that im going to migrate to win11. Thats not going to happen, even if I can no longer play gw2 on it. Im more willing to stay gameless until win12 and then see if its good enough to migrate to it. I played for years on XP, I have no fear in me to be lone win10 pro nomad.
