Boad.5246
Within the last several days I started getting the "Guild Wars 2 Game Client has stopped working" error every time I try to play on my Dell XPS 15 laptop. TechAssist.4635
Its intent to to create a log if possible in it next play session's crash. I will admit the way I provided it is a bit crude.Locate your Gw2.exe file.Right-click on the file and select Create shortcut.Rename this new shortcut to Guild Wars 2 Log.Right-click on Guild Wars 2 Log and select Properties.Locate the Target line and add –log to the end. (Example: “C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\gw2.exe” -log)Click OK.Double-clicking Guild Wars 2 Log will begin playing your game client. The game will attempt to create a log upon a crash. To find that log please do the following: Hold down the Windows button on the keyboard and hit the R key.Paste in the following line: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2Click “Ok.”Locate the "Arenanet.log" (If present)
Boad.5246
TechAssist.4635: To answer your earlier question, yes the crash occurs on all my characters.I performed the logging procedure you described and although no "Arenanet.log" was created, I did find "Gw2.log" which provided the following:00000526: Perf: Build 8493400000526: Perf: 2017-12-18T08:29:14Z00000526: Perf: Platform 100000543: Perf: Archive has version 1 header00000986: Perf: Archive has version 1 header00001816: Perf: Deleted 0 old files.00001881: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI_Host.exe00001882: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI64.dll00002205: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:15.816306 [12356:6424:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pakSome features may not be available.00002205: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:15.817312 [12356:6424:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty()00002714: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 7760 08:29:16.367772 [15828:12648:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pakSome features may not be available.00002714: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 7760 08:29:16.367772 [15828:12648:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty()00002881: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onShowLauncher00002881: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 12356 | 6424 08:29:16.523142 [12356:6424:ERROR:render_widget_host_view_win_coherent.cc(416)] Unable to get backing store!00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onSetPreferences00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onSetLanguage00002943: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onDownloadComplete00002968: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onPasswordHash00011998: Debug: Connecting to auth server 34.237.20.65:6112...00012072: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 100012072: Debug: Connected to auth server 34.237.20.65:611200012197: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012272: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012348: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012398: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012398: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012423: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400012423: Debug: Auth server returned response 000012423: Debug: Account login transaction result 000012548: Debug: Web Message (launcher.js:2): onLoginSuccess00042511: Perf: Reported video memory exceeds the maximum supported bytes: 429496729500043633: Debug: Loaded 7563 precached vertex shaders in 575 ms.00043924: Debug: Loaded 11463 precached vertex shaders in 288 ms.00045162: Debug: CContext::SetFlag (0)00045193: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI_Host.exe00045194: Debug: WebBrowser: Skipping file CoherentUI64.dll00047801: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9292 08:29:59.044979 [2392:9292:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pakSome features may not be available.00047801: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9292 08:29:59.045480 [2392:9292:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty()00047847: Debug: Preallocated 31296KB of index and vertex buffers.00048065: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:01.716156 [13288:12300:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pakSome features may not be available.00048065: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:01.716156 [13288:12300:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty()00063798: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400063798: Debug: Auth server returned response 000063968: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400063968: Debug: Auth server returned response 000064292: Debug: Gc::GcAuthCmdNotifyProc: code 400064665: Debug: MapLoader: Completed STATE_LOAD_CONTENT00064688: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:18.322804 [3028:15664:ERROR:resource_bundle.cc(528)] Failed to load C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\bin64\ui_resources_100_percent.pakSome features may not be available.00064688: Debug: Coherent Warning: PID: 2392 | 9200 08:30:18.322804 [3028:15664:WARNING:resource_bundle.cc(252)] locale_file_path.empty()00064710: Debug: MapLoader: Completed STATE_LOAD_MANIFEST00064822: Debug:
TechAssist.4635
This is sadly the wrong log. A crash log would look something like this. --> Crash <--Assertion: Particular crash typeFile: Target LocationApp: ClientPid: xxxxCmdline: Any command lines used.Module: Possible conflicting fileBaseAddr: xxxxxxxProgramId: xxxBuild: xxxxxWhen: 2017-12-18T00:00:00Z 2017-12-18T00:00:00+00:00Uptime: 0 days 0:00:00Flags:

Kidd.4061
Hello there, had the same issue as you guys since the last patch ( 9 january i guess ? ).I had arcdps installed on the computer into Guild wars 2 -> Bin64 . Simply delete all concerned files ( dl39 something / dl39 arcdps ) and it should work fine. arcdps doesnt seem to work with the new patch yet.EDIT : assuming you're running arcdps or another dpsmeter. Other people had exactly the same issue, all had arcdps installed, and all stopped having the error when they deleted the files.
MrMojoRisin.7364
after over a week of almost no problems, last night was pretty bad.also, not sure if related or not, but yesterday i had a lot of the "picnic-blanket" terrain going on where the graphics file hasn't loaded correctly and it's all white and red splotches. Natta.8905
I also have a problem: Everytime I have double clicked the GW2 icon from my Desktop, there have been a Gw2-64.exe Error note that has appeared that says "A serious error has occurred that prevents the program from continuing to run...". What do I do?

What do I do? Hard to say without any further information. For example, you could move the GW2 game installation folder out of C:\Program Files\ to a location like C:\Games\Guild Wars 2\ and create a new shortcut for it. And you could also run a client repair to ensure the installation isn't faulty. Or you could uninstall all add-ons that might cause the issue. Should change the settings for app recommendations? Should you change it? You have to. You can find the option under settings > apps > choose where to get apps. The recommended option wants you to use the store to install anything. It should be set to anywhere, which used to be the default. That said, GW2 doesn't need to be installed. You can simply rename Gw2Setup-64.exe to Gw2-64.exe to have it run from its current folder. For more information on the crash, you have to click show details.
