Justine.6351 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 I see people complain about rev underwater stuff and ya it's not as well finished as it could be. Still, I'm starting to appreciate the skills more and more. If you got some cool tricks you can show in vid or even just talk about them here, I'd like to see. Ty ;-)
Buran.3796 Posted January 13, 2018 Posted January 13, 2018 As happened with the ground Revenant at the HoT release, the underwater Revenant was both incomplete and powerful, with the high numbers trying to hide the lack of development (which is blatant, since is the only class which can only wield a single kind of weapon underwater and can't use spec skills underwater, aside from the "f"). But due uderwater content was gradually kicked off the game, and has very little impact in WvW or PvP, ANet never worried to properly balace them. So, the Rev nerfs had a smaller footprint in its underwater capabilities and therefore scuba Rev remains as a competitive predator, as a living fossil like the crocodile. This can't conceal the fact that was rushed and is half finished, and that now that underwater content has no interest for ANet is the way in which will be kept for the rest of the game. Yes, underwater Rev is strong, but is literaly the only class with ZERO underwater build variety.
Flauvious.6195 Posted January 14, 2018 Posted January 14, 2018 Yea I love turning on impossible odds and auto'ing, such fun gameplay. Rev is hilariously incomplete underwater, but it's spear skills were just made op enough to compensate. I guess typing in some higher numbers for damage is a lot easier than coding 4 additional legends and another weapon to work underwater.

But if somehow you end up underwater in WvW, you become an unstoppable, teleporting, hateful murderbot. The thing with the legends "not working" has always been hilarious to me... There's a theme of things not working underwater, and whether or not it's due to developer laziness as you say or not, they at least excluded things that "Don't make sense underwater." Jalis is a dwarf, dwarfs are made of stone, stone sinks... Centaurs can't swim--they refuse to follow you into water in PvE... Glint's a giant crystal dragon with no buoyancy. It's the same as how other classes' sand based abilities, poison clouds, and non-magical fire don't work underwater. At least there's some lore and logic behind their choices... And it always seemed to me that the people who complain about a lack of underwater skills and things that generally don't matter like that are the same people that play Rev for the lore anyways, so shouldn't they actually like that you can't utilize the powers of a giant rock monster to float around water?
