Curious about a condi thief in WvW

I don't see these too often now that ghost thief went away, but the other day I found one. He hit me with a ton of condis on steal, which I expected when I saw his food. I cleansed that and he ran off to hide for a seconds, then hit me with 1 or 2 more skills that weren't traps, but applied a ton of condis again that I couldn't cleanse enough of before I went down. I wondered what exactly that second condi burst was? I was on ranger, so it wasn't throw gunk. Edit: It also wasn't death blossom, I would have recognized the animation. Maybe just applying a bunch of venoms after the steal?

Was he a deadeye? Might have been steal plus stolen items and venomshare with improv etc.

Do you remember if he closed to range on the steal? if he did he was Core or Daredevil in a condition build. If he did not he was DE. DE can apply a lot of stacks at range using mercy reset coupled with improv or Potent poison.

Core can spike cndition damage via venoms and immob apps via s/x or p/x.

That seems about right. Dodge applying condis and more condis when my health dropped and he immobed me. I'll have to think about how to deal with that if I run into one again. Very few attacks, he just avoided me and waited.
