Hephaestus.9567 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I’m 1 day new to GW2, I recently quit WoW because nothing but a RNG fest chore these days and soon I won’t have enough time to play as much ( tho im only 17 rn) or keep up with new players as I’ll be leaving for Marine boot camp for 3 months then being stationed for active duty some where for 4 years. I’ve heard a lot about this game but WoW is the only MMO I’ve played for a long time so I’m very rubbish with these new mechanics and everything. Where do I meet new people( I really enjoy playing with friends, main reason I stuck around in WoW bust most of them left) , where can I find a good guild, what do I do at max level !. I have many questions these are just a few. But so far the community seems really great in game which feels great because WoW has its moments but it’s very very toxic lol , I’ve also met a guy from the 3rd highest leveled guild or wat ever and gladly showed me around a little and even put me in his guilds discord. I love the graphics and the combat seems nice, I’ve already purchased the POF expansion that came with a level 80 boost but I’ll prob save it for later and level first. Revenant caught my eye, reminds me of Kensei from MK, I’ve always used warriors in every mmo I’ve touched even phone apps.Okay I’m going to shut up now because I’m ranting too much, if you read all my post THANK YOU I LOVE YOU FOR YOUR TIME
Fluffball.8307 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 You could join a guild, they're usually advertised in the starter zones and major cities. The biggest player hub is a city called Lion's Arch, which you may not have arrived at yet but will soon. Or you can just walk to it using a map if you want.
kharmin.7683 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 I suggest changing the title of your thread to attract more responses. As it stands now, it is senseless.
jbrother.1340 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 The title to this thread has no meaning that I can tell and probably puts people off to want to actually help you...you should try reading this thread and see it it helps. This was simply in another area of the forums:https://en-forum.guildwars2.com/discussion/25794/i-dont-understand-this-game#latestnot sure if it has what you need but a quick glance seemed promising.I would suggest you start by following your personal story for your character and go through it for at least 50 levels. You will learn about your race your class and this game doing that. Maybe not much but you will learn something.
Kaltyn of Torbins Deep.294 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Nah, the title makes perfect sense, you just have to talk the same language as Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.Watch for guild adverts in map chat. If you see a mentor running around one of the low level maps, tag along. I've seen a couple do guild invites after some of the events. Do be aware that not every guild is the same. If they're asking for gold or anything else for you to join, pass them up.After you reach level 80, you have all the level 80 maps to explore. Since you have PoF, that means the PoF story line and living world season 4 - episode 1 has already dropped and episode 2 will be soonish...probably before you leave for basic. First story in PoF unlocks the mounts for you. Eventually, you're going to want a glider too, but that will mean buying Heart of Thorns. PoF content is going to be somewhat harder than core Tyria content. HoT content is quite a bit more difficult than core, and somewhat more difficult than PoF - in my opinion. Additionally, once you hit max, you can do fractals and raids. Fractals are like mini-dungeons. Raids are 10-person content.Living world season 4. You unlock Season 4 episodes for free just by logging in while the episode is the 'current' one. So make sure you login just before you head to basic, and as soon as you get out. That should guarantee you unlock episode 2, and maybe catch 3 before you head off to your other schools after basic. I have no personal knowledge of them, but I've heard there are a couple of guilds for vets. Might ask around about them. And once you get to your unit, check around for any other GW2 players. Lastly, from an Army brat, good luck at basic and keep your head down, Marine.
Sieg.9248 Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 You can check out the "looking for guild" thread for guilds that are looking for new players also many recruit in game. The rest you should play out instead of focusing on, getting there is a big part of the fun when getting into the game.
Hephaestus.9567 Posted January 29, 2018 Author Posted January 29, 2018 Sorry about the title, didn’t mean to confuse anybody.
Turin.6921 Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 The wiki article on end game is actually really helpful for your question about max level game :https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/EndgameGenerally the wiki is a great resource for most questions. As for meeting ppl. Besides the forum there are a number of places to find ppl depending on what game mode you prefer. For raids for example these discord groups are great to start:https://snowcrows.com/newtoraids/There is also the reddit discord group:https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/The guild recruitment ad reddit:https://www.reddit.com/r/guildrecruitment/Also for EU there are two big communities with several guilds:https://gw2community.com/http://www.theopencommunity.org/If you are on NA i am sure there are similar ones but i do not know themFor WvW that is linked to servers there are server specific communities that you have to look up depending on which world you are at.
