Massive Quality of Life Update?

Guild Wars 2 Massive Update?For some time now, I have been an on and off player, WVW, PVP and PVE lover since the day Guild Wars 2 was introduced. However, since the game has become more stable and the player base is more solid. I think it’s time for a large quality of life update for all the players to enjoy. Below are details in each broad category to better enhance the way the game operates. These are simply my opinion or my friends that play the games opinions and ideas.

WVW:-Make an invite to duel option against enemy players in WVW and PVE.-Create dynamic events that take place in WVW, for players who want to contribute to overall points by completing said events. That being said, the events should be hard.-Have a statistic system in place to monitor classes that may be overpowered or overused. There is absolutely no reason for a zerg to be nothing but Firebrands or Scourges. After the statistics are clear and precise, nerf those certain classes slightly to be more in tune with other classes. I realize balance is a tricky beast, but sometimes when introducing new classes yall really go overboard.-Take off the annoying exploit where you can’t rez in combat, more than half the time we aren’t even in combat and I still can’t rez.-Introduce mounts into WVW, the movement speed of all characters is pretty unbalanced anyways. Obviously if you are brought into combat you can’t use your mount.-Limit number of players who can have commander tabs on at one time.-Introduce a commander rating system, no one wants to follow a bad commander.-Introduce better rewards for being the number one world spot before reset.

Loot/Rewards:

-Increase rare drop rates.-Institute legendary weapons as a possible drop for PVE content, not every player has the time or money to commit to create a legendary weapon. Also, map completion shouldn’t be mandatory to make one.-Stop with the useless runes and gear that no one obviously wants. Unless I am getting exotics, don’t get me a bunch of useless stuff. Its not fun to zerg for hours or pve for hours only to get my inventory full every 10 mins with stuff I don’t need.-Introduce New Elite sigils and Runes that would have higher stats then Superior. Quality of these items would be Ascended. The rune would have 7 to 8 stats depending completely on their bonuses, weapons would also play a part in completely all necessary stat placement to complete the rune.

Marketplace:-I realize that the marketplace is mostly player controlled, but just like in real life there needs to be some king of regulation of that market. Especially, for some of those items that are going for over 2000 gold. Reduce the price by half of all items above 2000 gold.-Considering legendary weapons are nothing more than cosmetic, offering no stat increase from ascended. Then they shouldn’t be worth more than 100 dollars in real life money.
-Make it possible to players to sell ascended items at weapons, not just crafting material.

PVE:-Reduce the number of nonessential NPCs in the world. The amount of EXP you get from killing them are minuscule at best and aren’t efficient enough for farming. Furthermore, often times they are more annoying getting involved in fights or slowing you down while you travel.-Introduce more diverse mounts.-Add the ability to teleport to party member.-Add Elite only areas on PVE map, a place where a party of 2 people or more are required to go to and fight Elite/Legendary bosses.-Raise character level cap to 100 to help contribute to Elite status.-Introduce the ability to start HoT or PoF story with one character and have the ability to continue that story at the same spot with a different character. Which only makes sense, considering you can replay story missions anyways.

PVP:-Introduce more game modes into PVP; For example: a football orientated game mode.-Have better PVP rewards and titles.-Raise power level cap.-Introduce the ability to acquire a legendary weapon by competing in the highest levels of PVP.

Class Rebalancing:-Fix retaliation buff and make it work against conditions as well as direct damage.-Increase base health stats for all characters. Getting “one-shotted” shouldn’t be a possibility.-Fix the staff weapon on guardians and make it more viable than just being a buff stick.-Increase scourge AOE cooldowns and reduce AOE sizes by 25%. Increase number of targets the AOE’s can hit to 10.-Increase base movement speed by 25%. We shouldn’t wear stats we don’t want, just so we can move a little bit faster.-Increase range of Mirage Elite teleport from 450 to 1000, decrease to charges to 2.-Make Thief Deadeyes more viable in WVW, literally never see one.-Fix Renegade Class, just never see any so I am assuming the class is awful and misplaced.

General:-Have the option to auto ignore guild invites.-Take responsibility and permanently ban spammers, not by their account but by their IP Address.-Increase rare drop ration for the Mystic Forge and increase number of available recipes.-Create a real/large casino in Lions Arch, with actual games and good prizes. The casino in PoF is utter garbage.

  • Introduce AOE taunts into the game, there really is no place for tanks and they should be just as important a DPS class.-Increase number of gems you receive for real currency.-Introduce dueling into the game, as well as wagers for the outcome of the duel. Example: Gold, Items, Gear or Skins.

Pfft, really? Apart from that one being super bland, the currency is tied to the ingame currency, so it actually changes for a reason.Personal greed won't do any good. But hey, your boss could also just say "increase workload for the real currency you receive".

People here tend to be overchallenged when it comes to gambling. When they lose more gold (basically also gems) in a casino or pachinko game, I am not sure if that won't backfire on it again with hobby lawyers talking about gambling laws and whatnot.

Read statement of the Gem/Gold conversation rate. Demand and Supply is the best. Everything else is a fiasko, see ECB or FED (or communism if expanded).

It is contradictory to "Duel" in PvE. I do not wish to be duelled by random kids while minding my own business. We are not barbarians. At least we Asura aren't.I saw this in a closed game called Dragonica in 2010. It was called "Street PvP". Whenever I heard that I cringed so hard.

No. Deadeye is fine. And a part of it to deal lots of damage at once. Not everyone is in the button mash mood. Some like a bit of planning and finishing it with one press of a button. Boom. Headshot.

Maybe you might wanna try boardgames? Monopoly maybe? There is no one to talk, and no EXP. Only greedy hotel owners that slow you down while you travel with your iron.

Maybe the fact you are an "on and off player" might get you a bit confused that GW2 is - thankfully - not filled with pubescent males that want to duel with anyone and then report you for losing or teleports to a party member which is just another way of "not playing" the game. Mesmer portals are enough legal cheating in that matter.

The single biggest QOL change you could make in this game would be to streamline the crafting system. The cost and bulk of having to craft layers upon layers of components to craft essential late game gear is a serious drag. There should be a lot fewer intermediate steps involved.

The bottleneck at Viper gear in particular is a huge problem. Pretty much every condi build for every class needs Viper gear to not be considered gimped, and Viper gear is both locked behind a lot of HoT grinding and BLEEPing expensive to make. Meanwhile, there are a ton of other prefixes in game that are hardly used by anyone. There's a real problem here with the game mechanics, both in crafting and the viability of diverse builds.

Increasing the level cap would be disastrous to the population, considering it goes against the very core of what Guild Wars has been since 2003.

I hate to say it, but this list is not a list of "Quality of Life" suggestions for Guild Wars 2; it's a conversion checklist for turning this into an entirely new MMO of your own design. And, based on the current comments, I'm not sure if that's a very highly favored idea atm.

Very few people have static IP addresses these days. So this suggestion is all good and well until a spammer's IP address gets recycled and then YOU get it. What then? You contact Arenanet and they say "oops, sorry, you have a banned IP! Don't worry though; it looks like your service provider only uses 2 week leases, so you can either play on VPN for 2 weeks or just wait it out. Enjoy your ban!"

I think the OP doesn’t understand what QoL updates are. QoL would be the wardrobe added. Portal scrolls you can buy with karma. Changing the dye system from character based to account based, along with the changes of gold and karma from being held by individual characters to being in an account wide wallet. It’s not adding features such as dueling and it’s not balance and it’s not messing with the loot system to decrease its value. Most of your suggestions would turn this game into a different game than guild wars 2 and it wouldn’t be a change for the better.

  • Mounts have existed for less than 6 months and you're demanding more.
  • You say you don't want to be one-shot but want more power creep at the same time
  • You want to completely destroy the gem and gold market.
  • You want elite status but don't want to work for anything.
  • IP bans aren't effective and would inadvertently ban innocent people.
  • You can't get rid of all gear other than exotic without completely destroying the materials market.
  • You can increase rare drops via Magic Find.
  • If all "nonessential" NPC's were removed, the game would look dead.
  • Stack toughness if you want mobs to aggro onto you, avoid it if you don't.
  • WvW is large-scale PvP. They took out most PvE elements (such as gathering nodes outside of objectives) because it interfered with and slowed down fights. There's already a problem with people taking up slots to duel or AFK pip farm, there is no need to add a system that encourages people to not participate in WvW.
  • You don't know what exploit means.

These aren't QoL fixes, these are things you want for yourself, many of which would fundamentally change the game and destroy its stability in multiple places. The only QoL thing you list is the option to auto-ignore guild invites. The rest is selfish or comes from not understanding what you want changed.

Something I have longed for is an expand all tabs/close all tabs in the crafting windows so if you gonna just pop by to do some refining of material you dont have to scroll through a really long list, and as there comes new recipes often then it will be more and more scrolling for every time. would be really awesome if it got added.

Yeah... doesn't seem like something a lot of PvE'ers are very much against at all... Obviously I can only really speak for myself and I will definitely not be welcoming this. And considering previous topics bringing this up I am not alone. PvP should stay in PvP areas.

Maybe a little wouldn't hurt, but gotta keep some stuff rare... if everyone can get everything at any time without effort... well some of the fun is out of it. And thats coming from someone who never gets the really rare stuff (me).

No. It was a mistake to make the precursors drops in the first place, why this was corrected with gen 2 legendaries. While yes they are mostly just cosmetics, they are legendaries, they should take a bit of effort to get. Including world completion.

Maybe you need bigger bags? Or carry less permanent stuff around? I don't really have this problem... I can play easily for 30-60 minutes before my bags are full. Depending on what stuff I do.

It is imo wrong that they can be bought with rl money in the first place. So at least let them stay expensive.

I don't see the point for this... reducing the number of NPCs would make the world seem more... dead. Even seemingly pointless NPCs help the world be alive.

Not disagreeing entirely with this. Each mount type needs a purpose (like each one does now) and there doesn't need to be more than one for each purpose (we don't need another highjumper). I'd like an underwater mount though. Also regarding skins, it should stay within some reason too.

It's sort of there already... there is an item for it. I seem to have a bunch... can't recall how I got them all though... some from birthdays for sure.

Seems pointless... also kinda against what ANet have been trying to do... also other people are talking about demolishing levels altogether... soo who should get their way?

I am not entirely sure about this, and I could be wrong.... but couldn't that affect the age ratings for the game?

Living World/Story/Expansions:let us turn off NPC speech bubbles.

currently i need to look the opposite direction or i end up reading the text before the character is even half through their speech!it'd be much more immersive for me if i can get all of my info from listening to the npcs say things in their own time :)

Legendary Weapon prices are based on the mat prices, plus you also have to add in TP taxes (which is kind of stupid) and then a little bit of profit for the crafter. This is why they should add a black market to the game or allow trades. Many will still use the TP, but some can get around the TP taxes if they grind enough rep with different factions to unlock trading between players. Yes another grind, but hey make it legendary so only a few will use it :D wink wink or a cash shop item to boost your grind xp?

Why do you need to invite enemies to duel in WvW? Just go slaughter them like they slaughter you. Isn't that part of the point?

As for PvE, NO GOD PLEASE NO NO NO! NOOOOO! I loathed duel spam in SWTOR. Don't ruin GW2 with it too.

My Scourge main is one heck of a lot less enjoyable in PvE thanks to endless PvP and WvW nerfs spilling over. Please stop. Seriously, you're ruining my fun.

I don't mind adding sellable ascended stuff-- the only way I'll ever get anything beyond trinkets-- but the rest of your suggestions will only make the economy worse than it already is.

I've never had an NPC or yellow creature slow me down when I travel. And they're a godsend to speed up BLC key runs.

The mounts I have are more than sufficient, and I don't even have/want the griffon. No thanks.

Why, exactly? Just go to the HoT maps for more elite and champ events than anyone can ever complete.

80 is already a lot of levels. Why, exactly, does anyone need more?

Just stop with the scourge stuff already. I already feel like I'm playing in super slow motion with the current cooldowns.

I've been sniped by many. Just because you can't see one doesn't mean they're not there waiting to ruin your shrine capture ;)

Woo! Finally a QoL change I can get behind! I hate that if you don't decline them immediately, they lie in wait for your next login and for every toon on your account.
