We do it the hardcore way by diving in and fighting with the fish - and sometimes get interesting rewards. That's if the fish and its friends don't nibble to much on us first :>

That doesn't really look like fishing to me. It's more like kiting. Where else do you see a big fish rise 10 m in the air before being reeled in by someone?

It is already in game, well as an event. If you go further down the Coast towards the Straight of Panube there are three fishing jetties on the shore. A event where you have to land fish in the same manner takes place at that location.
