Ramontique.9852
When I open the Guild Wars 2 launcher (and leave it idle) it uses 7-12% of my CPU. Why is the CPU usage so high? Firefox (with multiple tabs open) only uses 1% when idle./edit: i5-7500 @ 3.6Ghz (high performance profile/no throttling)
Leablo.2651
Hmm. I'm not sure what it is doing but it is communicating a lot with the NC backend. I had always thought it was torrenting with other users but maybe not.
Healix.5819
The launcher is actually a web page rendered by CoherentUI, which is all done on the CPU, whereas real browsers are capable of using your GPU. If you were to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (restart) and view a page with a constant animation, you should see a similar usage (quick sample). They could surely reduce it, I'm guessing they're needlessly redrawing the window, but it's really not something to care about.@"Leablo.2651" said:I had always thought it was torrenting with other users but maybe not.GW2 uses Amazon's CDN for patching. It's all standard http downloads.
