Notifications about season start/end should be clearer

Notifications about the start and end of a season should definitively have a pop-up of sorts or something. The season end is visible somewhere in the top of the pvp-window, with a small font. Seriously not noticeable.

Last week when I logged in to finish off the collection for the legendary backpiece, lo and behold, season ended 6 hours ago. No notice anywhere for the next season start. The decay is also ridiculously high. I was away from pvp for a week, and got a decay of -300. Which I couldn't do anything about anymore, since the season ended 6 hours ago. Not cool. Rank doesn't really matter in this game, so it's not a big deal. Missing a couple of matches from the pip-track for byzanthium chest + the few victories I still needed for the back item I've been working on for quite long bummed me out pretty bad..

I agree that there was some ambiguity about the end of season as the scoreboard closed approx 30-60 mins before the scheduled reset on the 13th of March which caused some people to fall short of the final reward/miss out on some rank points.However, your complaint about being 6 hours late and not being eligible for rewards is not something I could see as valid. Ranked season has a set date and it would only be logical to presume that it closes at reset on that date. Also it is reasonable for them not to have to post a new season date immediately - it's clearly going to be a couple of weeks between seasons (at the very least).

The decay in my opinion is very fair. Firstly, it's not that you flat out lose 300 points, it's just that they are not counted in your score until you play again. As far as I am aware, each match you play will clear 100 points of your decay (-/+ win or loss points). So it would only take 3 matches for you to get back to where you were almost a week ago. It's important to understand that the system is in place to prevent people securing a high score and then retiring for the rest of the season while "camping" a high scoreboard position.

With all due respect, it just sounds like you were taking it easy with the collection since you were not aware of the deadline and were "a few victories" off the mark. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that - I'm also a very causal player and do collections and events at my own pace. However, complaining a deadline has passed when you missed it by so much is rather weak, especially odd to do so one week late.

I missed it by a couple of hours as I think I said in the first post, I just made this post a lot later. Also my focus on the post was on the notification for season start+end, which resulted from being irritated with missing the end of it. Also yes, I've been doing it quite casually, but that still doesn't change the infuriating feeling you get when you realize season is over, didn't get any notifications, and no idea when it starts again.

Like I linked in the OP, I had to scour the forums with its search to find some estimate on when the PvP season will start again. This shouldn't be the case, we need better communication.
