Why does a game with "Guild Wars" in the title not have GvG like the first Guild Wars?

GvG in the original Guild Wars was the most fun, addicting game mode in either of these games, with HoH/HA not too far behind it. It would be pointless to implement in GW2 right now, because balance is absolutely atrocious... but if the game balance team could do their job and get the professions balanced, why can't we have proper GvG in GW2?

Another thing I enjoyed was the Battle Field in GW1. Can't remember though what it was called. Two teams huge in number, say one blue one red charged onto the field full of different terrain. All out battle till end. I think you got points for how many kills you scored - Just tones of fun when you felt like a change of pace.

Because when the game came out they wanted to become an esport. Originally the game play was good enough to be an esport but the infrastructure of the game was not sufficient. After the trait merge patch, the game basically died in terms of any esport appeal as it became more about passive spam.

GvG as it was in gw1 will never work in gw2. The intricacies of splits, matching enemies and pushing via a won teamfight is completely nullified by any kind of stealth / portal play.Back in gw2, we had slow paced teamfights which often lasted longer than 10 minutes. That would never work today, considering peoples hatred for "bunker metas".

I dont agree with that mentality, but i cant blame people for hating our old bunker meta and trying to kill any possibility for that coming back...having matches being decided by whatever team got first kill or capped the first point is really frustrating...but in my opinion it was more skill based, was easier to spot who knew how play and not just facerolling on the keyboard.

Because Guilds are the major thing they got wrong in Guild Wars 2. Which given the name is ironic. It took them half a year after launch to get the guild missions in the game. Since then i don't think they added any new missions (that's 5 years ago).It took them another 2 and a half years for them to give any attention to guilds, meaning changing it to the current system with guild halls. But since then, except for some new decorations, they did nothing else for another 2 and a half years (well, they added the new guild hall, which really doesn't amount to much in the global scale of things).

And because of mismanagement of sPvP they actually removed the only thing they had resembling any sort of guild competition from the game in season 5 of sPvP. Before that you had guild teams being able to compete in a proper guild leaderboard in sPvP. It was a bit broken, with guilds having 2+ teams on the board, mostly from switching players around to reap rewards, but it was something.

Basically Arena Net forgot how to handle competitive game modes. PvP is currently a mess, WvW is broken as hell, and balance is a joke. So enjoy PvE, because it's the only thing the current Arena Net has gotten right.

Honestly, my brother has already traded GW2 for BDO, and i'm seriously tempted to do so too. I've always been a Guild Master with usually ~100 members in my guilds. Now my guild is empty, pretty much, and it really deflates my enjoyment of the game. While BDO has awesome guild and social features, if GW2 had half of the social, guild and economy activities that BDO has, it would be an awesome, awesome game indeed.
