PyrateSilly.4710
Your firewall or other settings may have decided to stop allowing GW2 to connect. It has happened from time to time to me over the last 8 to 10 yrs I have played GW and GW2. You may need to go into the settings on the computer/router/firewall and tell it that the program is allowed ..... again.
Linebreaker.7904
I have had the same issue for the last day and a bit. Playing fine one day, then poof, the 42 error. Nothing changed, everything checks out on my firewall etc.

It can help to restart the computer & your router, although not always.Start with an easy test: check to see if you can reach the servers from where GW2 is hosted:http://www.cloudping.info/(US-East/Virginia for NA players, Europe/Frankfurt for EU)If that seems okay, then use pingplotter (or similar software) to see if there's some other reason why you can't connect: https://www.pingplotter.com/fix-your-network has a good guide for identifying where the problem is. Linebreaker.7904
Thanks for the info. I can access all the AWS sites with minimal ping. However, I have no idea what to put into the pingplotter to get a result. I tried cligate.101.NCPlatform.net (I have no idea if that's correct) and all there was a huge red block. (Which clearly isn't.)What address should I put into pingplotter? Cheers

Enter the /ip command in chat, and that'll give you the address of the server.
