All classes are good in PvE, PvP and WvW except the thief, especially DE(new and old).

The thief is by far, in terms of numbers, the worst option for PvE. Not only that, Every other classes offers support for teammates while the only thing that a thief can do is DPS(Worst DPS option also). I was hoping that the new Deadeye changes would help in the PvE department but it just ended up being worst. For example, my Firebrand not only does 33% more damage than DEs but he can also play a support role in any game mode. The thief is suppose to be a DPS class in PvE but it does less damage than any other class. Why can a class that can play both support and DPS have 33% more damage than a class that is meant to DPS? The only time that I want to play my thief is when I PvP or WvW. I really want to play it in PvE without being a liability in mid to high-end content.

I don't even want to talk about the deadeye in PvE. In PvP there is potential, but thieves had always excelled in PvP(any class can), so why not make the DE reliable in PvE as well? We somehow got a worse version that does less DPS and is even more restrictive than before because of the requirement of Stealth. I'll talk more about that in a second. The problem use to be that DWs had no mobility. Now you have a lower DPS kneel and the same standing DPS because you MUST waste your time to stealth to deal damage. It's frustrating to play DE against bosses which require you to move a lot and now you have to waste your dodges to maintain stealth for DPS while kneeling(You need to kneel STILL need to kneel to DPS with DE because now it is mandatory to use your other kneel skills).

This gets me to my next point. DEs must fill up their utility with stealth skills to deal DPS. You have to run 3-4 stealth skills to maintain the worst DPS class in PvE wile other classes can use those slots for a direct damage increase or utility. It is just horrible. DE is by far the worst PvE specialisation there is, especially after this rework.

Now some potential fixes:

  • get rid of DJ's restriction of stealth and dodge to stealth because DE's mobility is already horrible and it needs the Endurance.

  • put DJ back to slot 4 kneel since we do not have the DPS increase of Malice anymore

  • give us a rifle skill that can stealth us for 2 seconds by itself after damaging the foe (this can now smoothly lead into Stealth DJ)(Also it is not viable for permastealth builds since we know that it was very strong and had to be toned down)

  • give Malice some other utility other than being ammunition. Right now it's just a worst version of adrenaline. Some suggestions, +1 - 2% damage per malice, +initiative regeneration per malice, skill recharge reduced per malice(which gives you access to your long cooldown stealth skills because your DPS is locked behind Stealthing.)

  • Get rid of the kneeling animation that DJ has to go through(this will increase DPS)

  • Make Kneeling a function skill (Profession skill) and replace rifle 5 with a skill that gets rid of "revealed", but also does damage to enemies so that you can combo with Kneel 2 or 3 into DJ.

Now, with that being said, I know that Anet is trying to make Deadeye a decent class for PvE as well. They tried an idea and it is underperforming. We all know that buffs or more changes will be their for the Deadeye. All we ask is that it doesn't take 3 months for these changes to occur. Thank you for taking your time to read this. I don't expect changes to be made instantly, but please do not unintentionally nerf the thief in PvE anymore. It's already the worst PvE class in the game. People who play thieves also want to PvE. We're not all PvP and WvW maniacs like myself.

Yes, was hoping for that to for the rework, but DEs lost their most important stealth trait with the kneeling. We could just make it so the trait functions differently in WvW because that is where the problem occurs, instead of making it worst in PvE too. Nobody runs Permastealth in PvE.

you are right unless you play dungons for fun and like to do the speed runs
