Illconceived Was Na.9781
GW2 sales dropped 32% [quarter-over-quarter], but increased by 66% [year-over-year]The numbers:QoQ = 2018 Q1 vs 2017 Q4: 23.6 vs 34.9YoY = 2018 Q1 vs 2017 Q1: 23.6 vs 14.2And from earlier financial statements: HoT's release Quarter (2015 Q4) vs PoF's (2017 Q3): 37.3 vs 20.1HoT +1 (2016 Q1) vs PoF+1 (2017 Q4): 30.6 vs 34.9HoT +2 (2016 Q2) vs PoF+2 (2018 Q1) 15.9 vs 23.6Roughly speaking, ANet did nearly as well the first three quarters of PoF as it did with HoT, although HoT peaked higher and dropped much more quickly. If the trend continues, sales during the PoF era will be better than during the HoT era.

If the trend continues, sales during the PoF era will be better than during the HoT era.PoF is already doing better. Keep in mind that PoF launched the last week of 3Q17, whereas HoT launched a few weeks into 4Q15. PoF's launch quarter was essentially only pre-purchases, whereas HoT's was pre-purchases + 2 months of sales. If you simply compare the raw numbers, yes, HoT did better, but that's not factoring the 25% quarterly loss caused by HoT. If you instead look at the increase in sales, by using the quarter prior to their launch as a baseline, HoT and PoF both made ~27k, though PoF did so in half the time. PoF's sales also edge into 2Q18, raising its total to ~36k, but that's much less accurate, at least until the next quarter is known. Considering PoF was also cheaper, sales are definitely better this time. The real test however will be 2Q18, since it'll be the first quarter not influenced by PoF's launch, so it'll either drop, or show growth for the first time since HoT's reveal.
