Support: Firebrand vs Scrapper

With the updates to the Scrappers healing capabilities a few weeks ago, does it in any way provide the level of support a Firebrand provides? Or is Firebrand still the only viable support in PvP at the moment?

Definitely not. Scrappers have great personal survivability, but their support for their teammates is nowhere near the level of support that firebrand has. Firebrand is the king of support still. (Although playing support is tough with all the support amulets that were removed.)

fb takes it with no issue, their overall healing is just....better + resistance i+giving stab. it just isn't fair match up for the scrapper honestly.

I wish the Tempest, Druid, Support Rev and now Scrapper is at least close to FB in supporting :(

Hopefully the next balance patch includes buffs for other support professions, like Druid, Revenant, Tempest and Engineer.

Scrapers might potentially in very specific circumstances out single target direct heal a firebrand. But they don't pump boons like an IV, have no chance to out heal in aoe, probably clear fewer condis, and have worse control options overall.

Tempest is much more likely to replace firebrand because the 40% prot + 10% ice aura dmg reductions neuter power comps. Atm there isn't much reason to go that way because you can spec firebrands to go 400k on healing and damage in most games with a ton of offensive boons (perma aoe quickness).

No contest, FB, for many reasons, not least of which the fact it has decent condition removal and access to pulsing resistance. In a Scourge heavy environment these are big deals. Scrappers have got Elixir C, but once that is on timer you are dead in the water, minor clears from turret, toss C and e.gun if taken.
