What is the reason for not implementing Alliance Battles-like PvP mode?

Very interested in a reason, is it only because that mode had 2 Factions fighting each other and Anet decided not to have such rivalry in the Guild Wars 2?There doesn't have to be 2 Factions in Guild Wars 2, we can play such mode without it.

For all that do not know what Alliance Battles are in Guild Wars 1, basically, it is a conquest mode with 7 capture objectives. For holding them you get points and the first side to get 500 points wins the map. Points are got by killing enemies and holding capture objectives once every 7 seconds for each shrine you are holding. Very similar to what Conquest PvP mode is in the Guild Wars 2.

The difference is that you are going into maps with a party of 4 members, each side having 3 teams, so 12vs12 battles. This is a huge difference that would help GW2's PvP a lot. There is a need to have a PvP mode where you can go as a Party of friends and fight together, in a mode that is casual and relaxing. There is no matchmaking, so pros could fight newbies and casuals while having fun.The second difference is that AB in GW1 also has NPCs on capture points. So it is not just running around solo and capturing modes without a fight, you really want to go as at least 2-3 players to fight off NPCs and capture point. Those NPCs also have player-like skills, they aren't just a damage sponge. The 3rd difference is that maps are huge and simple. Without gimmick mechanics or gimmick map design.

Guild Wars 2's AB-like mode could change it a bit, to better suit the GW2's mechanics. What I would like to see is the following:

  1. Huge maps that do not have gimmick mechanics or map designs. Just have a simple map, 7 or more/fewer capture points, without houses, roofs, walls around capture points, stairs, siege weapons, jumping pads, verticality etc.
  2. A choice to enter the maps as a solo player, or team with 2-4 members. That way anyone can enter a new match without waiting for a team. Implement the "I am ready" function and once 12 players or 24 or 36 are ready, they can enter the map.
  3. The number of players per map is a matter of the game design. It can be 4 parties of 4 players or 4 parties of 5 players. So, 16vs16, 20vs20 or 12vs12.
  4. NPCs should have player-like skills. Boon removals, Condition removals, Protection buff to give players harder time to solo fight them, or to help solo players defend capture points.
  5. PvE only characters, like in WvW.

I think that this mode would be a fun experience for the Guild Wars 2 base, and that mode like this is needed in the game. A mode where you can have fun playing solo or with a group of friends, without thinking about ranking or matchmaking system. Just a simple fun!

u said it urself.. it is already there in sPvP conquest

well that would be WvW multiple Players in different scales of goups on a huge map

WvW again .. capture Points arent just defended by guards but also walls.. seen that in gw1

The 3rd difference is that maps are huge and simple. Without gimmick mechanics or gimmick map design.

this Too, WvW maps are pretty big arent they?

Why not Play WvW? ull get most of what u asked for Hand have to live with what u get more than this(like gimmik mechanics)

if another PvP mode is implemented i hope ist something we dont already have or thats combining those we have with what we dont enough to make it a good choice to Play. it should be rewarded, and it should be competitive to Keep Players interested in the game mode

and if u wanna mention aspenwood and jade quarry too.. they are implemented already .. kinda

escort ur supply turtle(dolyak) into ur fortress - WvWattack /defend the fortress against the enemy - WvW

i appriciate ur ideas and ist understndable but personally i would hope for something.. MORE

WvW is absolutely different than this mode. For WvW you need siege weapons, you need lots of other people, it is not time-limited, it is not similar to the AB mode.sPvP is also different, not enough players, too based on the meta builds and player skills, too gimmicky maps and mechanics, there are no NPCs

While I liked AB, the gamemode had 0 respect in the PvP community and was just casual fun.

Of course the same gamemode (Conquest) was the one Anet picked as the only PvP gamemode which they tried making into an e-sport.. hmm I wonder what went wrong

No, the last thing Anet should dedicate resources to is a chaotic unenjoyable hotjoin zergfest conquest 2.0. Queue would take ages for 12v12 and it'd be an unenjoyable mess because GW2's combat system shines in smaller fights. And honestly, after 6 years of having only conquest as the competitive gamemode, developing another Conquest mode would be nothing short of insanity.

When the PvP Players(those who mainly played in the real Modes like gvg ha and ta) in gw1 went for AB they often used current meta builds and dominated the whole fight so I dont See ur point here

And the whole "too based on meta builds" is Not a game Mode Problem but it's based in the community .. what makes u believe that is would be different in ur imagined mode? Cuz u would want it to be that way ?

I dont want to offend u but that's pretty naive

And the pve gear restriction would Not stop that either .. I have pvp meta equipment on some of my chars already and i doubt im the only one
